Joseph always has Windsor Hills decorated for the holidays by Thanksgiving. He never ceases to amaze us with his creative displays. I miss being at the resort this time of year as it is so colourful and festive. Joseph and his partner spend literally days decorating throughout the complex. Here are a few glimpses of some of this year’s decorations. The photos are provided by our HOA Board member, Deanna.

THE TRAIN I HAVE BEEN RAILING ABOUT Here is a great option for future visitors to our resort and Villa. One can assume that no sooner will there be a stop at Disney Springs than there will be numerous car rental availabilities at that site. (Disney Springs is only a 10 minute drive to our villa) The train option is fantastic: when you arrive at Orlando International Airport, you will be able to connect directly to the train from terminal C. CONSCIENTIOUS STAFF Our cleaning staff works very hard every day to maintain a high level of cleanliness and Covid protocol. Of course, equally important is everyone’s responsibility to physically distance, use sanitizing stations and wash their hands frequently. ... Masks are not required around the pool area unless guests are unable to physically distance. NEW POOL PROTOCOL Effective November 1, 2020, when owners and guests pick up their pool deck wristbands at the Welcome Center, they will be given the access codes for the community pool gates. Currently the access code to the pool is on the gates; these will be removed.... NOTE: an access code is also required to enter the main playground area. This code can also be obtained from the Welcome Center.

FUNNY...NOT FUNNY Thinking of our Canadian and UK guests who had to postpone travel to our villa this summer and fall. (The Canadian/USA ground border closing was extended again today.) Hang in there everybody. Continue to plan for that rebooked vacation. Perhaps consider extending it. After 2020, you deserve it, right? #thistooshallpass.

ON THE SURFACE This morning I am sharing photos taken by a fellow Windsor Hills owner/ HOA board member. The resurfacing of the tennis/pickle ball and basketball courts has been completed. They look amazing... and are awaiting your arrival. Our villa is located just around the corner from this outdoor sports area.. Apart from tennis, pickle ball, basketball and sand volleyball, there is also a putting green. For a refundable deposit, sports equipment can be obtained from Guest Services.

The swimming pool and game room will be open regular hours 8am until 10pm. The slides and wet play area will be open regular hours 10am until 6pm.... Exercise room will be open regular hours 6:30am until 10pm. The Windsor Hills Marketplace & Grill will be open 10am until 5pm. Clubhouse will re-open on Friday, November 27th at 8am. DECEMBER 24 & 25 Christmas Eve & Christmas Day (Thursday and Friday) Welcome Center, Internet Café and Movie Theater will be open from 8am until 4pm. The swimming pool and game room will be open regular hours 8am until 10pm The slides and wet play area will be open regular hours of 10am until 6pm. APPLES AND ORANGES For a period of time, we owned a townhome as well as our current villa at Windsor Hills. When renting, it is important to distinguish between a townhome splash pool and a villa pool and spa. If you rent a condo, you only have access to the main clubhouse pool and hot tub. The 3 bedroom townhomes at Windsor Hills have splash pools like the one in the top photo. Splash pools can be kept at a warm temperature, but they ARE NOT hot tubs. All villas at WH (4, ...5 or 6 bedrooms) have the same-sized backyard pool as ours in the second photo. The villa pools and spa tubs do not operate independently; heated water from the spa spills over into the main pool. The spa can heat up well beyond the pool temperature; however, it is best to set the spa timer for 15-20 minutes prior to using the spa if you want that additional heat. (The timer for the spa is situated on the exterior wall across from the spa.) Unlike the townhome splash pool, the spa features 4 jets. Not all pools are created equal. When you are renting accommodation with a pool, be sure to ask for clarification.

FAMILIES ARE BOOKING! I confirmed two bookings this past week. Some families are coming to Florida to visit Walt Disney World. Some families are coming to enjoy the resort. VIEWING THE MAGIC KINGDOM FIREWORKS FROM OUTSIDE THE PARK The Polynesian Resort; the Floridian Resort and the Contemporary Resort Who doesn’t love fireworks? Many visitors to Walt Disney World plan their park visits around catching the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot on days they visit the park.... However, there are ways to view the fireworks without having to enter the park at all! In the case of Magic Kingdom, certainly the best place to view the fireworks is from the top of Main Street; this allows an excellent view of the fireworks and projections on the castle. Viewing the Magic Kingdom fireworks off site means you do have to forfeitseeing the projections. Because my annual park pass includes free parking, I tend to park in the MK lot and take the monorail to the various resorts: friends and I have been known to have drinks and enjoy charcuterie as we make the circuit, ending up at the Contemporary in time for the fireworks. I have also viewed the fireworks from the top deck of the ferry as it transported us from Magic Kingdom to the transportation hub. If you are simply being dropped off at the transportation hub to be picked up later I would certainly recommend taking the monorail to the resorts or the ferry as a means of enjoying the fireworks. On an evening when you have not got a park ticket, you can, without having to pay, drive to these three Walt Disney World resorts and park in their lot with this proviso: Complimentary standard self-parking is available while you enjoy select dining, shopping, entertainment, and recreation experiences at this Resort. (Disney world.Disney.go.com) In each instance, as you navigate World Drive toward Magic Kingdom, DO NOT take the off-ramp to the MK Parking tollbooth; instead, continue taking World Drive on the overpass. To get to the Polynesian or Floridian, turn left at the lights at Seven Seas Drive then right onto Floridian Way. To travel to the Contemporary, stay on World Drive.

LAKERIDGE WINERY Lakeridge Winery at Clermont (about 20 minutes from the villa) is re-introducing weekend activities. It is a very-much scaled down version of what they usually offer, but I think it still constitutes a great outing. Despite Florida being considered ‘fully open for business’, the winery is continuing to follow COVID-19 protocols with respect to physical distancing and sanitation.... The winery is a great place to enjoy outdoor fun, food, music and wine. Check out what they have to offer on weekends from now to the end of the year. WORKING FROM HOME? DISTANCE LEARNING? If COVID-19 has you working from home and your children taking online schooling, consider a change in your work environment. ON THE OTHER HAND Quarantine restrictions have been lifted for travellers to Florida, so you are free to work and play at the resort but also experience everything else Central FL has to offer. (NOTE: check your own country/state/province’s quarantine requirements upon returning home.) Airlines and insurance companies have begun to include/offer coverage for Covid, allaying some of the concern people have had regarding travel. Windsor Hills has a social director who organizes activities Thursday through Sunday. If you have a planned morning or day off during your stay, consider the Thursday morning Zumba class. This October schedule is the first one Joseph has posted since March it is a welcome return to some organized, physically-distanced activities. Apart from the DJ, there will also be some themed activities planned for Hallowe’en. The monthly activity sheet is posted at the main clubhouse by the convenience store.

Obviously going to be watching this VERY closely. NOTE: Although theme parks MAY immediately return to regular operations, I will be extremely surprised if they do. I will keep my eyes on this!
