Lavender Pound Cake with Lemon Glaze Ingredients 1 cup butter (softened) 2 cups sugar... 4 large eggs 3 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (food grade) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup buttermilk 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or vanilla extract 10 drops Lemon Vitality Essential Oil (plus 10 drops for glaze) 6 drops Lavender Vitality Essential Oil (plus 1 drop for glaze) 1/4 cup edible lavender flowers (plus 2 tablespoons separated for topping) 2 cups powdered sugar 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream mini fluted tube pan Instructions 1. Heat oven to 325 degrees. Prepare baking pans. 2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. 3. Add the eggs into the butter mixture one at a time making sure to thoroughly mix in each one before adding the next one. 4. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. 5. Now alternate adding the dry mixture and buttermilk into the butter mixture a little at a time. 6. Stir in vanilla, 10 drops Lemon Vitality Essential Oil, 6 drops of Lavender Vitality Essential Oil, and 1/4 cup lavender flowers. 7. Pour batter into cake molds and bake at 325 for 33 - 36 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. 8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan on a cooling rack for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan. Allow to cool completely before glazing. 9. To create the glaze, stir together the powdered sugar, heavy cream, 10 drops of Lemon Vitality Essential Oil and 1 drop of Lavender Vitality Essential Oil. We’re all trying to take steps toward a healthy lifestyle. A good natural deodorant is really hard to find darnit! I think I found one that is share worthy. This all-natural deodorant recipe allows you to throw away all those store-bought options that have less-than-desirable ingredients. Natural Deodorant Recipe... Ingredients 3 deodorant tubes (15ml size) 1 tablespoon coconut oil (solid) 1 tablespoon shea butter 1 tablespoon beeswax 1 tablespoon arrowroot powder 2 tablespoons diatomaceous earth 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil 4 drops Lavender essential oil 4 drops Tea Tree essential oil 2 drops Lemongrass essential oil Directions In a double boiler, combine the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax. Stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Stir in all remaining ingredients until no lumps remain. Carefully pour into the tubes. Allow it to cool completely before use. It cools very. You could also speed this step by placing it in the refrigerator for a few minutes. *Deodorant should last 6 months. To store: Store in a cool, dark place away from heat or direct sunlight. Usage Note: Apply very little each time. Applying too much deodorant is the number one cause of staining and unsightly pilling. Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. *** Safety Note: Use caution when handling diatomaceous earth. It is a very fine powder that is extremely dangerous if inhaled into the lungs in powder form. This is not a danger from the scent of the product, but the tiny particles affecting the lungs. *The deodorizing qualities in the recipe come from arrowroot powder and diatomaceous earth. *Arrowroot is a gentle ingredient used instead of baking soda since it can irritate sensitive skin. *Diatomaceous earth is a finely ground, naturally-occurring sedimentary rock that is highly absorbent and therefore great for making this deodorant more powerful at controlling moisture. Blueberry Cardamom Scones Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 30 minutes Servings: 12 Ingredients... 3 cups all purpose flour 1/3 cup sugar 1 Tbsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 12 Tbsp butter (cut into pieces) 2 cups blueberries 3/4 cups milk (set aside an additional 2 Tbsp) 2 drops Cardamom Vitality essential oil 2 drops Ginger Vitality essential oil 2 Tbsp powdered sugar (for sprinkling) Instructions 1. Preheat oven to 375 F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper. 2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in the butter pieces with a pastry blender or 2 knives. Toss in the blueberries 3. Measure the milk, then drop in the 2 drops of Cardamom essential oil and the 2 drops of Ginger essential oil. 4. Pour the milk into the batter and stir gently to combine. Some of the blueberries may 'pop' and release a little liquid and that's okay. Add a little more flour if needed to keep the dough from being too sticky. 5. Divide the dough in half and form into 2 balls. Form them into 6" 'disks' and cut each disk into 6 triangular scones. 6. Place the scones onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Sprinkle a few pinchfuls of sugar onto each scone. 7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden on top.
