What to Expect from a Consultation: Initial contact: Free 10 mins phone consult to determine need. If IBCLC consult needed, we would discuss brief history of breastfeeding issue and arrange a time.... Home visit: I would come to your home to observe a full feed and help identify any breastfeeding issues. We would review the history of your pregnancy, delivery, baby's history and breastfeeding experiences and goals, weigh baby as needed, assess baby's mouth, tongue placement and suck, and assess breasts for nipple damage using a hands-off, respectful approach for mom and baby. We would then work together to develop a lactation care plan that fits your family needs and goals. Follow up would be as needed by phone, email or a follow up home visit. Cost: Initial In-Home Consultation: $100 - 90 min visit Follow up Home Visit: $60 - 60 min visit Consult fee due at time of service in cash, cheque or etransfer. Some Extended Health Benefits cover Registered Nurse home services for breastfeeding support.
