Today is Chandeleur in France, aka the day you will for sure eat crêpes! It happens every year on February 2nd. It is a blend of a religious and a pagan celebration. Religiously, it is 40 days after Christmas, when Jesus is presented to the Temple, that involves candles, also known as Chandelle, hence the name. For farmers, crêpe is round and golden, a representation of the sun. It is also made with wheat flour. You would make crêpes on that day holding a golden coin in you...r hand to ensure good luck for the year and crop to come. This is for sure one of the kid's favorite tradition. So I wanted to share my favorite recipe of crêpes. It comes from Julie Andrieu's website. If 2020 has taught anything it's to ADAPT and change your plans. I am grateful for this skill that has been hammered into us. I believe that it is useful to know how to question what is and come up with new ways to do things if they make more sense. So to prepare for this new lockdown we are closing the shop tonight and will reopen on January 4th 2021. By then we will have figured out what we can offer, and how to organize CURBSIDE pick up and porch DELIVERIES.... It has been quite a year. Dear Valued Friends and Customers, we have decided that, starting Monday November 30th, our SITTING DOWN area will be CLOSED for the rest of the year.
