Check out the 3 news benefits that will help Canadians recover from loosing income during Covid 19: CRB; CRSB; CRCB. (Those who qualify for EI, will transition to that once the CERB runs out) These are for people who don't qualify for EI, who are sick or who need to still take care of their kids. Transitioning millions from CERB to EI: With a commitment of at least $37 billion, the federal government has extended the Canada Emergency Response Benefit by four weeks into September before it will transition millions of recipients onto a revamped Employment Insurance program. Those receiving CERB will be transitioned onto EI though three new temporary benefits: the "Canada Recovery Benefit" for self-employed, gig or contract workers; the "Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit" for those who don't get paid sick leave through their employer; and the "Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit" for people who need to stay home and care for a dependent because daycares or other facilities are closed due to the pandemic.
