Just like your intro, your outro is also very important. And oftentimes we see many podcasters missing out on this perfect retail space. Your outro is the last thing people hear and remember clearly when they're listening to each episode. So why not put it to good use? Do this by providing a CALL TO ACTION (or CTA) If your listener has stayed all the way to the end they are committed and ready to hear what it is you want them to do next. Do you want them to sign up for email...s, buy something from you, sign up for your upcoming class? Whatever it is, you need to put it in there. TIP: A great way to not bore your audience and tie them into all the places you want to connect within is to change it up sometimes. Every few episodes have a different version of your outro with one of the CTA's in them. Once your show has been up and running for some time you will most likely start to receive some interactions from your audience. This may include suggestions like; formatting changes, guest options, length of each episode. Although it is a good thing they are reaching out and it's important to listen to what they have to say, it is also equally important that you stay true to the path you are choosing for your show. It is best to not jump from idea to idea trying to please ...everyone because in the end you will please no one and your show will lose listeners. Make your decisions and stick to them because a show that knows its direction, has engaging conversation and shares consistently will always do better than those that just go with the changing flow. Of course, you can take into consideration what it is that your listeners have to say, especially if it's something they want to learn from you. Or if it suits your show style, maybe consider what is happening in the world. However, it is first best to establish your show as you intended. If it doesn't apply to the episode topic it is best to not use too much of it since this can be enough to make some listeners walk away. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule and for this reason, we suggest that you try thinking of your show from the perspective of your audience. When we say "limit the filler" we don't mean you can never talk about anything off-topic or personal. It's what makes you relatable and encourages a deeper connection with your following so ...there should definitely be some of it. Just try to keep it to one or two things at most before moving on to the heart of the subject. The reality is you are going to make mistakes when recording your episodes. It is really noticeable to you of course as the host because you were there when it happened. However, your audience is not going to notice every little trip on your words or hiccups in the flow. Even if they do, it's not going to matter if the content is engaging. Now if you have a horrific ear-bleeding screech happen or a siren goes off, you may want to take the time to remove that. But outside of s...erious things like that, we suggest that you leave it as authentic as possible. By not editing everything out it, actually helps you to become a better speaker. When you know that things are not going to be removed you tend to pay more attention to what it is that you are doing just that much more. The improvement will happen over time as you get more practice. FYI: NO ONE, loves their first recordings, it's totally normal to feel like that.
