AMR attended the Mass-timber design workshop in Vaughan this week! This was a great opportunity learn about the Ontario Building Code changes for the use of Mass-timber. Mass-timber framing is characterized by the use of large, solid-wood panels for floor, wall and roof construction. Mass-timber structural systems are gaining traction in today’s construction industry. These systems provide faster construction, safer sites and lower construction costs while using local natural materials. Mass-timber is foreseen as the future of the construction industry in Canada.

Erection of roof precast slabs has been completed at Fylnn Gardens Seniors Residence addition. The new addition is set to open later this year. AMR was the structural engineer for the original building constructed in 1990 and is proud to be working again on this addition to the original building 28 years later.
