FAQ: How long will a session be? The duration of a session is up to you. A session can range from two minutes to several hours, depending on what suits your needs best. If sessions run beyond one volunteer's shift period, a new volunteer may finish off the rest of the session with you.

The nominations are in, and the winners of our Support Awards this year are Henry Dowd, Victoria Escobedo-Holden, and Ella Krane!!! The Peer Support Award was an opportunity to nominate individuals in the Queen’s undergraduate community who have positively impacted one’s life, or the lives of others as a peer supporter. Our Supervisor Support Award was newly introduced this year and was open to PSC volunteers to nominate supervisors who they felt acted as a role model for... them and embodied the PSC values of confidentiality, acceptance, empathy, and community. Henry, Victoria, and Ella have all clearly made a lasting difference in the lives of their peers and within the Queen’s student body, and we’re ecstatic to be able to recognize them for their efforts! Thank you to everyone who submitted a nomination this year - We received many fantastic nominations and although we couldn’t choose everyone as recipients of the award, all nominees will be receiving a copy of their nominator’s responses. If any of the winners have not received an email yet, please email [email protected]. The Peer Support Centre will be closing for the Winter Break tonight at 10 pm. We wish everyone a great Holiday season and am looking forward to another year of fostering support and community! See more

The Student Life Centre is quickly adapting to the COVID-19 situation and our Front Desk will be opening in the Queen’s Centre on Tuesday, September 16th. Unfor...tunately, the rest of the Student Life Centre is currently closed due to COVID-19 and Queen's University regulations (this includes room bookings/spaces, equipment rentals in the JDUC, Queen's Centre - non-athletic side of the ARC, Mac-Corry Student Street & Mac Brown building). We are awaiting decisions from the Queen's University COVID-19 Campus Operations Groups (COG) to determine if our service can open during the Fall semester. . . Anyone can still reserve SLC spaces at studentlifecentre.ca; however, bookings will not be confirmed at this time until a reopening date is determined. All bookings will also be subject to change per our upcoming COVID-19 measures in compliance with Queen's University and KFL&A Public Health. For reservation inquiries, please contact [email protected] or call 343-363-5834. . . We will continue to serve the Queen's and greater Kingston community remotely, so please let us know how we can support you at this time. If any changes occur, we will inform all of our SLC users on how we will safely proceed. Thank you for your patience during these trying times. See more

The PSC as an extension of the AMS stands in solidarity with our Black and BIPOC communities. As an integral mental health resource on campus, we recognize the need to feel listened to, validated, and supported. Our mission is to provide empathetic support while fostering a more supportive and inclusive Queen’s environment. In doing so, we understand the importance of educating, listening, and putting forth positive actions. That is why we have implemented our PSC x CARED ini...tiative. Through our partnership with the Committee Against Racial and Ethnic Discrimination, we aim to continue taking positive steps towards better supporting our BIPOC student communities. In the end, actions speak louder than words. Which is why we will continue educating ourselves and finding new ways of allowing our BIPOC communities to feel heard and supported. The following link contains information about resources, student groups, organizations, and opportunities to educate yourself more and to help you engage in active allyship. https://docs.google.com//1Z7VLOOnAZ7fdl1_8Jt9GN5aL0ZK/edit

We know that exerting real effort and time into this matter is where the importance lies. We are taking time right now to educate ourselves and continue to learn more. We will be continuing to share how we will be sustaining our commitments to anti-racism and discrimination that indicate ways in which we can change our organization to better serve and represent the diversity of students at Queen’s.
