April Art Challenge Day 28 Ok, so I'm slowing down on these as life picks up a bit. Today I saw dandelions and was inspired to draw a bee! Now bees have traditionally not been my favourite, but I've learned to adopt a soft spot for honey bees and bumblebees. My kids were super interested in bees last month and we took a look into what goes into a hive, the jobs that bees do and how honey is made. Pretty fascinating! I have a new appreciation for bees! (Wasps and yellow jack...ets are still a big no - those guys are jerks!) The weather is slowly warming up and the sun setting a little later...the thrill of summer on the way! Even if I only get to experience it in my own yard, I will still welcome warm sun and bright days. Keep looking up, friends! #aprilartchallenge #beesarecool #busyasabee #savethebees

April Art Challenge Day 25 Today I let my kids decide what we should draw and they came up with favourite food! We discussed our favourite foods (which were all treat related, obvs) and my 6 year old encouraged us to think of our healthier favourite food. For the kid who asks for treats on the daily, it was a proud mama moment! I think she was inspired by our earlier outdoor activity of painting rocks as food for our mud kitchen. It was so nice out today we were outside pre...tty much all day! My 6 year old's loooves watermelon so that's what she drew, I love bananas (which were all gone at the grocery store last week...what?!), and my 3 year olds favourite is potatoes I love what she comes up with for her drawings. I hope you enjoyed some of the beautiful weather today! #aprilartchallenge #welovefood

April Art Challenge Day 24 Full disclosure, we forgot yesterday and were kinda losing track of the days, haha! But here is today's. Today we drew a tree on a windy day. I like how my 6 year old added swirls to represent wind on hers! I don't know about you, but I have noticed this spring to be exceptionally windy. A lot of our walks and outdoor activities have been cut short because of the crazy winds.... I used watercolour pencil crayons, which I forgot I had, and really enjoyed using them! I love finding a new medium to try! Hope you're all doing well, staying safe and healthy! #windyday #windintrees #windyspring #aprilartchallenge

April Art Challenge Day 21&22 I forgot to post last night, so here's yesterday's and today's in one post! Yesterday we drew a green plant (we chose a plant from our house) and today it was just me drawing an ink doodle with some colour added. I decided to add some fonts in there and show my appreciation for all essential workers out there! Make sure you thank those that are still going out to work!... #greenthings #weappreciateessentialworkers #keepcreating

April Art Challenge Day 20 Sooo, the weekend happened and we were so busy just enjoying other activities (and throw some exhaustion in there) that we completely forgot to do our art challenge! Oops! But I also felt like we needed some quiet solitude this past weekend. We were all feeling a bit worn down and dare I say a wee bit emotional (parents included!). And how can you say no when your kids are just happy to do a fun crafty day, allll day? I can't, that's for sure! An...yway, we dove back in today by choosing to do a favourite pet, which of course in our house was a cat. Although we've never had any other kind of pet, but I anyway This is actually a vulnerable post for me! This was a quicker drawing, I didn't allow myself to sit for hours being over particular, and I don't draw animals a lot so I feel like this isn't my best! But it looks like a cat, so I've got that going for me Even if you aren't confident in your ability, but still find joy in doing it, do it anyway! What's your favourite pet, past or present? #aprilartchallenge #catsarecute #favouritepet
