Sad news from the resort today, Furby, Anita's Pomeranian was injured by a vehicle and had to be put down earlier this week. The photo was taken in 2014, Furby and Kiana in the shade under my truck watching me work in the sun.

It is the 40th anniversary of the resort this year, after a difficult time with the forest fires we were hoping for a clear season this year but the Corona Virus has been sent to test us. We intend on opening a little later than usual, probably June rather than May, The government has provided guidelines for cleaning which are rightly very stringent and they will make back to back reservations impossible, it will take 2 days to properly clean the bigger cabins. Also one night stays will not be available because of the extra work. Please reserve as early as possible and have some flexibility with dates to allow for cleaning between guests. Camping will be normal depending on social distancing guidelines in place on arrival and the fish will be waiting as always. Stay safe and enjoy Easter, Anita and Jim.

Shut the water off for the winter yesterday as sub zero temperatures forecast for the weekend. Snow on the mountains yesterday after torrential rain overnight and mist on the lake before the sun burned it off. Fishing is still great and we still have power at the campsites and water at the house for campers.

The resort is under evacuation alert, visibility down to 100 metres. The fire is 35 km away as of last update, aircraft can't fight it because of smoke, no rain inn sight just praying for some relief.

The devastating fires in the area have so far spared the resort, Nimpo and Anahim Lake being the only 2 communities in the Chilcotin not evacuated or under warning. The closest fires are east of the airport and west at the Atnarco Precipice, way too close for comfort. No guests at the resort obviously but there is space available for evacuees if needed. http://openmaps.gov.bc.ca/kml/wildfire/map.html

There is a family of foxes around the property this year, these are a couple of the pups, they both have white tips to their tails, there are others who are 2 tone brown and black.

Some drama this spring, big water leak needed some new isolation valves. Also a tree fell on cabin 4, I put in new steps on cabin 3 the day before, had a vehicle parked there all day,

This tree didn't survive the winter storms, lucky for us the other trees kept it clear of the cabins and power lines

The lake is showing off this morning, a change from the storm that went through. 2 days ago. We are just getting the water on, late this year as the winter was cold and long. Hope the good weather brings the first campers in.

We shut off and drained the camp water system yesterday after 3 nights at -8, it's about that time anyway. We awoke to our first snow this morning and it's raining now. We are still open for dry camping for any hunters that come by, we usually get a few but they come self contained and only need space for their gear. There are still meat poles around the property for hanging animals if needed.

We took another trip to Bella Coola yesterday, it was a beautiful day and I had time to take some photos by the water. There is a Hydro dam just outside the village with a small recreation site at the bottom of Jackson falls with some interesting signs, also we saw a mountain goat on the way back. The log boom shots will remind some of you of the Beechcombers TV show.
