Not all "Martial Artist" are Self Defence Instructors. Understand what you are learning and what your training is intended for. Competition? Touch or Point Fighting? Kata Competitions? Sport fighting? There's nothing worse than learning a style that doesn't work! Especially when its marketed to you as "Self Defence"

The "JAB" and the Kimono Knife

Ancho Jujitsu 15.09.2020

On Wednesday Sept 9, 2020 at 7:00 pm I'll be looking at the proper technique used when you throw a jab. The jab can be a stunning strike if completed properly.... We'll look at stance, forward, backward and side to side movement as well as the strike.. To end our class, we'll take a look at a special historical gift that a young Samurai would give to his new wife on their wedding day... "The Kimono Knife" a two edge weapon with beautiful engravings, which allowed the blade to be removed easily from the body, so multiple penetrations could used in a matter of seconds. The Kimono Knife... a true gift of love. See you Wednesday. See more

One aspect of self defence that is often over looked, is the Defenders legal and moral obligation. Your measured response to aggression will make the differen...ce between you going home or going to jail. Self defence is not about retribution, it's not about making a person pay a serious price for something they have done to you. It's about protecting yourself and others from harm. Always remember "Not Everyone Deserves a Kick to the Head" Soke Jason Carter. - Nor does every crime. This is where Combat meets Compassion.

It was NOT the Samurai who developed Jujitsu... Jujitsu is one of the oldest forms of martial arts known to man. It is said to have originated more than 4,000 years by Buddhists monks from northern India, a few miles north of Bernares, where a man, known today as Buddha, the Enlightened One, lived a peaceful life. The monks wandered the countryside divulging Buddhism. In these journeys, they were often robbed and murdered. Thus, they created a system of fighting techniques designed to defend themselves against their oppressors. Because it was against their religious principals to harm others, they developed a system without the use of any weapons and violent techniques. The Buddhist Monks were the true creators of the grappling arts. - I said it before - Jujitsu, using gravity as a weapon for over 3000 years.

Is Japanese Jujitsu an effective form of street self-defence? There are inherent issues with Traditional Japanese Jujitsu being used in todays world as an effective method of personal self-defence. In order to clearly answer the question, is Japanese jujitsu an effective form of street self-defence, one must first understand what Jujitsu is and where Jujitsu came from. Jujitsu was the Samurais last line of defence in battle. Finding themselves off mount, primary weapon br...Continue reading

Perfect example of a legal self defence interaction from start to almost end. (Striker should have made sure he was ok and called 911 for medical assistance) being responsible in self defence is just as important as being successful
