Breasts. They come in all different shapes, sizes, and colours - and they're all beautiful! Breasts serve different purposes and take on different meanings for ...everyone depending on where they're at in their life. . #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth is coming up this October. With 1 in 8 Canadian women being diagnosed with breast cancer, there is so much work to be done. . This is an opportunity to not only raise awareness about breast cancer, but educate ourselves on how to prevent and detect it. . Did you know: - If you are 40 to 49 years old, you are recommended to talk to your doctor about your risk for breast cancer, along with the benefits and limitations of having a mammogram. - If you are 50 to 74 years old, you are recommended to have a mammogram every 2 years. - If you are 75 or older, you are recommended to talk to your doctor about whether having a mammogram is right for you. . Head to @cancersociety's site to find out how you can get involved and donate to support the prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and care for breast cancer. . #breasts #breast #boob #boobs #boobies #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #breastcancerawarenessmonth #womenshealth #canadiancancersociety #phs #pelvichealthsolutions #phs2020 #lifelonglearners @katharina.lorenz See more
This #SexualHealthAwarenessMonth, we thought it was important to get back to basics to talk anatomy and all things related to the vulva. . Di...d you know that 73% of women don't know what a vulva is, and often mix it up with vagina. The vulva is actually the correct term for the genitals on the outside of the body, while the vagina is inside the body and connects the vulva to the uterus and cervix. . We believe it is SO important for people to understand their own anatomy so they can feel connected to their bodies, feel sexually empowered, and be their best advocates for their own health. . If you haven't before, we highly recommend taking a pocket mirror and giving yourself a look down there! Don't be shy. Get to know yourself intimately. This is a good exercise to practice regularly to monitor any change of your vulva. . Some top tips for vulvar care: - Water is sufficient to keep the vulva clean. - Avoid soaps and other feminine products such as deodorants, sprays, douches, and powders, which can irritate the urethra and vulva. - Wipe from front to back while urinating and after a bowel movement. - Treat your vulva with the love and care it deserves. . #sexualhealthawarenessmonth #sexualhealth #sexualhealthawareness #vulva #vagina #anatomy #anatomy101 #vulvaanatomy #pelvichealth #pelvichealthsolutions #phs #phs2020 #lifelonglearners @laurameihofer See more

Painful periods are often normalized in our society as a common experience that people with vaginas are expected to endure. . However, if some...one is experiencing severe pain in their pelvis or lower abdomen during their period, along with pain that radiates to the thighs, diarrhea, or nausea, they could be experiencing the most common menstrual disorder: Dysmenorrhea. . This condition is common in people with heavy periods, irregular periods, those whose periods started before 12 years of age, or those who have low body weight. . General treatment approaches may include but are not limited to: - Controlling stress. - Meditation. - Avoiding triggers like food sensitivities. - Regular detoxification like exercising and deep breathing. - Healthy eating (more plant-based, whole foods). - Taking one tablespoon of flaxseed for the first two weeks of your cycle to support estrogen. - Pain medications like ibuprofen as necessary. - Consulting a pelvic health physiotherapist. . Seeing a pelvic health physiotherapist can help with the symptoms, as we can teach you how to relax your pelvic floor muscles and provide overall stress management. . #painfulperiods #period #periods #dysmenorrhea #pelvichealth #pelvicpain #pelvichealthphysiotherapy #pelvicphysiotherapy #phs #phs2020 #pelvichealthsolutions #lifelonglearners See more

DON'T IGNORE THE PELVIC FLOOR Our pelvic floor is our power centre. It plays a role in our spinal stability, our continence, our organ support and our sexual re...sponse. It is impossible to ignore because it is so central to so many aspects of our life yet many try to ignore bothersome symptoms with pads or by avoiding activities or limiting liquid intake to name a few. We benefit from regular care for our pelvic floor even if we have no symptoms. Just like the dentist. We go 1-2 times a year even if we don't have a toothache. It has been instilled in us to brush twice a day and see the dentist at least once a year. What if we treated our pelvic floor the same? Pelvic floor physiotherapists are like the dentist for our pelvic floor. They assess and treat the pelvic floor and can screen for issues like incontinence and prolapse and lichen schlerosus and hypertonicity... Don't ignore your pelvic floor. Get your bits checked at least once a year. #dontignorethepelvicfloor @secretwhispersuk #proactivehealth #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorphysiotherapy #kegels #kegelmojo #buffmuff #thinkinsidethebox @ Gambier Island See more
