It's Monday night 9:37pm and this man has to be at work for 5:00am. But instead of sleeping he's fixing a sign that was vandalised. If you don't think this election matters talk to Elmer. It’s fitting that May 14th falls on Sunday this year. Could not have asked for a better gift on my Birthday other than sharing this day with my mother and all mothers in Cole Harbour-Portland Valley. I know for a fact that I would not be where I am today without Opal Cain. The young girl in this photo grew to be the most influential woman in my life and the person who sacrificed the most for me. I can’t tell her enough how much I appreciate and love her. When I was younger ev...ery Sunday after church I would park myself in front of the TV to watch some football. And every Sunday Mom would turn off the TV, sit down with me and made sure my homework got done. At those moments, I was not her biggest fan and I imagine this wasn’t a picnic for her either. But, she did it anyway and because of her doing that: I was later equipped to graduate from Dalhousie Law School, serve as a Nova Scotia Human Rights Commissioner and with your support become the next MLA from Cole Harbour-Portland Valley. Listening to my neighbours in Cole Harbour-Portland Valley I’m hearing that: what we needed the last three years, and still need today, are compassionate leaders who will provide selfless governance for the people and province they serve. Now, you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to say to them my friend, you can get a compassionate leader and more with Gary Burrill as Premier. So, on May 30th Vote NDP and make that a reality folks.

He could have been anywhere in the world but Uncle Glen decided to be at Mount Edward and Cranberry on a rainy day putting up signs with Dad and I. Can't thank him enough.

My favourite football coach said "all we need to do is get 1% better each day and at the end of the month we'll be 30% better." The message is simple, work hard and take it one day at a time. Friday was a wonderful day. Had the opportunity to catch up with a longtime friend from Eric Graves Jr. High and Prince Andrew High School. Talked to the crosswalk guard who kept my classmates and I safe for all those many years during our time at Bell Ayr Elementary and had an amazing t...ime talking to an old football teammate from Prince Andrew. He too shared that his little ones, although only two and four respectively, will also be going to the same schools we did. It was awesome seeing two schoolmates from so many years ago, and hearing that their children are now or will be attending the same schools we once did was special. Improving schools and making sure our children get the best education possible is important to my friends raising a family in Cole Harbour-Portland Valley. And it is important to me too. That is why I'm so proud to be a part of a team and future government that will work with teachers to guarantee our students can be successful. Because the province that out educates us today is the same province that will out compete us tomorrow. I’m not going to sit idle and let that happen to our children and province and neither should you.
