As politicians often only hear about concerns or complaints...what helps to motivate us are the quiet thank you's. I appreciated your personal message to me Dorothy Smit VanKoughnett OCT 4TH, 10:22PM - Dorothy Smit VanKoughnett A number of years ago you were stranded with a number of us in Vancouver trying to fly back to Penticton. You didn't say who you were but helped to organize transportation back to Penticton as we ended up flying to Kelowna. Those quiet acts of kindness and helping others and great organizational skills are reflective of what a city like a Penticton needs. Thanks for all you do !

Thank you Brigid for your support and letter to the editor in Fridays Penticton Herald Standing behind Mayor Jakubeit Dear editor: With six candidates to choose from for mayor of Penticton for the next four years, there’s only one choice for me. That is Penticton’s current mayor, Andrew Jakubeit. ... While these past four years have brought many of society’s issues, literally, to the doorstep of City Hall and all those under that title City of Penticton, I strongly believe that Andrew Jakubeit is the only person capable and able to take Penticton down a positive path. This path, first and foremost, must include all who live, work and play here, and enjoy all the wondrous aspects of this place affectionately referred to as a place to live forever. While we always welcome visitors, festivals of many artistic elements, athletic events and superstars, I also support the need to be a green community and see Andrew Jakubeit as being passionate for his community for Penticton’s future, not just another four years. It’s also important to remember that the mayor is but one voice, as a member of the team of seven elected officials, teaming with the chief administrative officer, currently aptly carried out by Peter Weeber, and the highly competent City of Penticton staff. Therefore, I know how critically important it is to vote for council candidates who know and care about the City of Penticton. I was at the city’s recent boot camp about municipalities, and learned a lot there. But, as I think I almost have squatters-rights as a regular attendee at city council meetings, I’m well aware of those candidates who do (and don’t) attend council meetings. So, my vote for mayor goes to Andrew Jakubeit! Brigid Kemp Penticton See more
