Early bird gets the worm !!! Lines in the water at 0600, pond like conditions, and the fish were snapping. Mark had a great trip 4 hour trip off Nanaimo. 2 over 80 cm were released. Chartreuse flasher paired with a 3.0 Howe sound security by Lighthouse Lures was working for us today, and yum yum baits lured in the prawns

Chinook Salmon retention will be open in Nanaimo Area 17 starting July 15th unless changes occur. For now hatchery coho is open, ling cod and of course the chance of seeing wildlife. Orcas, dolphins, porpoises, sea lions, eagles are always a possibility when we get out on the water fishing. Dates are filling up quick !

Recent update regarding fishing charters. Spring is here !!! During the last couple months I have had cancel all sport fishing charters in order to stop any possible transmission of the virus. ... On May 6th, the B.C government announced their official phase in plan. We will be able to restart local operations tentatively May 15th. Fishing reports from the Nanaimo area have been good, and I can't wait for the season to officially start !! Fishing Charters will look abit different with Covid-19 safety precautions. All charters will be limited to 1-4 people preferably family members from same household. All surfaces and handled fishing equipment will sanitized prior to your trip. Hand sanitizer will be provided. More so then before !! I look forward accommodating you in 2020 following new safety guidelines set out by the province. Out for a quick run up of all the gear. Nice morning on the water . Traditionally April & May around Nanaimo offers good fishing for Chinook salmon, as lots of American bound fish are passing by. Prawning is typically good at this time of year as well. May 1 ling cod opens in area 17 as well.

One of my favourite times of the year. Seeing these fish rip up the local rivers is an amazing thing to see. Glad to see the local rivers loaded up with Chinook.

Up at 04:30 to make the trek to the Alberni Inlet. This fishery can be spectacular in mid August through September. Today I was happy to help Carly catch her first Chinook salmon. It hammered a pink pre rigged teaser head from Lighthouse Lures, and went on a few good rips, but Carly played the fish like pro.

An awesome 3 day trip to Barkley Sound with a great group from Winnipeg. An awesome morning on the water with a group from Ontario. The Chinnok & Coho kept us busy on the rods. Danielle also got into this tank of a hatchery Chinook.

One of my favourite photos from the year so far. Start them young! kids will always remember the exciting things from their childhood. Taking a child fishing is so rewarding in many ways. Seeing the smiles, laughter and enjoyment regardless of age makes it all worth it. Take kids fishing. Get them hooked on the outdoors, not video games.
