It's BNI - The World's Leading Referral Organization Global Convention day here! It's a great day learning from AMAZING business leaders from around the world! Had the opportunity to listen to Stan Phelps, Linda Clemons, and our very own Ivan Misner. #YEG #BNI #BNIGC2021 #MasterConnector @BNIAlbertaNorth

Happy #TaxTipTuesday friends. Over the last few weeks we've been chatting about tax deductions and investments...and today we put them together! Switching out non-deductible to deductible debt is a great strategy when done the proper way. Here's the scenario:... A non-registered account for $15,000 A personal use line of credit for $15,000 Cash out the $15,000 investment, pay off the line of credit, THEN BORROW again from the line of credit the $15,000 to re-invest into your portfolio! The original situation saw a non-deductible debt as the line of credit was being used for personal items. By paying that off and borrowing to invest, you create the situation in which your interest costs are now tax deductible. This IS NOT for everyone, but in the right situation it works great! Have questions? Message me to chat! #YEG #IGWealthManagement #Debt #TaxDeductible #Interest #Investments #FinancialPlanning #CFP

Today you get a #TaxTipTuesday...but on a Wednesday (because how could I forego #WorldGratitudeDay!) So we've talked about what a tax deduction is and what type of accounts are considered when discussing deductibility. This week's tip is on what type of investment you can hold to trigger those deductions. Typically you would be able to deduct the costs associated with managing a portfolio of mutual funds/managed solutions, real estate investment trusts, and other securities. ...The key to being able to take advantage of this is that the funds in question are generating some sort of income...whether it's interest, dividend, or rent. This works whether the investment is held in a personal non-registered investment account or a corporate investment account. Have more questions about what you can write off? Feel free to message me for a chat. #YEG #IGWealthManagement #TaxPlanning #FinancialPlanning #CFP #CorporateFinancialPlanning #Wealth

In honour of #WorldGratitudeDay, I'd like to share a few things that I am grateful for today...and every day! First and foremost...my family! Sharing this life with my wife has been incredible. Watching my kids grow up is a ton of fun. Having the support of everyone else around us is what gets us through the tough days and creates memories and the great days. Doing what I do...having the ability to make a measurable impact on others' financial lives. ... Having a strong network of people that I can rely on in ANY SITUATION! Living in a place where opportunity is around us and waiting to be received. and because I would be very sad without coffee and donuts! Thanks for allowing me to share. What is one thing you are grateful for today...and every day!? #YEG #IGWealthManagement #Grateful #PositiveVibes #Family #Opportunity #Success #Coffee #Donuts

So what is this BNI thing you say? You've likely heard of it. You probably know someone who is a member. You may have even been a member yourself. It's the largest referral marketing organization in the world helping entrepreneurs and business owners grow business. BNI was the one constant over this last year and a half of continual change. And through all the turbulence, it was the one thing we could rely on...both personally and professionally. ... I'd love for you to be my guest this Thursday @BNITitansAN. Feel free to reach out. In the meantime, check this out! http://ow.ly/ILXH50Gdpsn #YEG #Networking #BNI #BNIAlbertaNorth #IRefuseToParticipateInARecession #ReferralMarketing #ILoveReferrals #AllTheCheese

Were you taught about budgeting, taxes, and saving for the future in school? Likely not...unless you took the initiative to learn it on your own, whether through a structured course or other resources. November is a great reminder that financial literacy is key in our success. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Financial Literacy Month, an awareness campaign that looks to empower Canadians to take control of their financial lives. Got questions? Feel free to ask!... #FLM2020 #FinancialPlanning #YEG #KnowledgeIsPower
