I miss you. This was our day. June 18, 2020... Time for us to cheer on our children (& our young adults) while we celebrate another great year of dance, Together.... Our famous Parent Dance Off was about to go up a level this year by request... even more winners, more prizes! Daddy & Daughter Dance, Mommy Son-shine Dance, FamJam were all on the way! We were going to put on a little acting & Musical Theatre skit for you since our dancers learn how to act. We were going to tumble our way into Acro & flex up our bodies. Ballet & Jazz had us all ga-ga over costumes & bouncing around that IG stage gracefully & powerfully. Our lil Bboys were about tear it UP with their uptown funk. And of course our Hip Hop was going to shut down the place! Mixed with Afrobeat, old school & new school moves the audience would be cheering with us, no matter what level of dance. Competition dancers were all too happy to show off their routines. But most of all... inlove you all. I just wanted to see you all for one night, all together, smiling, having fun together & letting any stress flow freely out of our bodies back into the world. Together, as a family. My family. We are virtual, so we are still together but soon I will see you & we can jam again. I love you, and always will. Stage 1: Murder & Death ...Why? Stage 2: Outrage ...I’ve been struggling, like the rest of the world to come to grips with the murder of Mr George Floyd. Still haven’t & never will. ... So very confused into the questionable death of 29 year old Ms Regis Korchinski-Paquet. Frustrating to talk & not know how much change it is effecting. Talk ain’t cheap - but that’s how we get laws passed. What’s concerning is that Stage 3 is here: Action. So, what now? What happens if Floyd’s killer isn’t charged correctly AND justly sentenced to life without parole? What happens if Ms Regis wasn’t murdered? What will we as a Black community do then? We must mobilize, now, and create action plans to fight back in every way. Black people, we are enough and yes, we have enough power, education AND money to do just that.
