2nd EMERGE Award (2020) Angad Hundal Society is happy to announce Sam Kohler of Halifax West, Nova Scotia as the winner of the second Emerge Award. Sam was born ‘a miracle’ 15 weeks premature, weighing just over 1Kg and fought unimaginable odds to survive and grow into a wonderful young man that he is today. He spent the first four months of his life in IWK and was followed carefully by professionals in the early years of his life. Despite the challenges, he has shown remarka...ble resilience and determination by not letting it affect his education. As described by his referees, he is kind, selfless, and never says no if asked for help. He has unwavering perseverance and exemplary work ethics. He is an enthusiastic member of a number of clubs and organizations. His deliberate nature guides him to stay and belong among those who share his vision. Sam graduated from Halifax West High School with high honors and will begin his higher education journey at Saint Mary University where he will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree. He lives in Halifax with his parents and a twin sister We are very happy and proud to select him as the winner of the second Emerge scholarship! We also want to use this opportunity to thank and congratulate his parents, teachers, and other professionals who helped and supported him throughout his journey.

5th Angad Hundal Memorial Award (2020) Angad Hundal Society is happy to announce Lauren Wamboldt of Cole Harbour District High School, Dartmouth, as the winner of the 5th Angad Hundal Memorial Award. Like previous years, scholarship received 110 applications from all over Nova Scotia which were assessed on the parameters set. Lauren lives in Cole Harbour, with her parents and younger siblings, a brother and a sister. She came highly recommended by all three referees who descr...ibed her helpfulness, worth ethics, honesty, hard work, commitment, dedication, problem-solving and caring nature. She is not afraid of speaking her mind when needed! Lauren graduated with an International Baccalaureate diploma from Cole Harbour High this year and will be attending Queen’s University in Kingston, ON. She is one of 10 Canadian students who has been accepted to the Qu ARMS program (Queen’s University Accelerated Route to Medical School) which allows an application to Queen's medical school after two years of undergraduate study. She is very excited to start at Queen’s, though the first year will be remote learning due to COVID. While studying from home, she will continue to volunteer in her community and work as a lifeguard. Ultimately, she would like to be a doctor and work with children. We congratulate her on winning the scholarship with the hope that she will continue to be a role model for others. Angad Hundal Society is thankful to all applicants for their time and interest and hoping that completing the application was an insightful experience.
