This Sunday's afternoon practice: Go for a walk, peel potatoes, practice squats, sing songs, stretch shoulders and hips, eat dinner with the fam. Feel free to move your bodies in the ways they want everyday. You can go to a gym, outside or into your home and accomplish the million of movement-based domestic jobs a home requires. You can lay on your couch and have a nap. You can hang with your people. You can have a dance party with your living room. You can do whatever you want. Try to be aware of what you are doing and each choice that you are making. With purpose, without judgement. #mindfulnessinaction #mindfulmovement #movementinthekitchen #carrywaterchopwood #whatyoucoulddo #becauseiloveyou

Stock Saturday for Peace of Mind. Is that a thing? Maybe it could be a thing? Making a meat and/or vegetable stock or broth is one way to extract the most nourishing properties and hydrophilic nutrients from a food. The longer you cook it, the more concentrated it becomes. Once strained it can be a flavourful base for savoury dishes or a warm, nutrient-dense drink or anything in between. (*Be mindful of cooking bones too long if you suspect a histamine imbalance in your body.... See @histaminehaven and my girl @lukasymonschnc and @traceyreednutrition for more info on that.) This is a chicken and veg and herb stock/broth. I got chickens and most of my produce for this from @blumtbiodynamic. They are a true source of gratitude for me. You can make stocks too, vegetarian or omnivorous. You can literally put anything in it. This one is (in no particular order) all kinds of chicken parts, leeks, onion, garlic, turmeric, nettle, rosemary, thyme, kelp, holy basil, bay leaves, celery tops and bottoms, black pepper, paprika, chaga chunks. I throw them together with water covering it all and will cook this batch for 3 hours. I add fresh parsley for the last bit. Then strain, make chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight for the fam, freezing the rest in jars (for soups, stews, savoury whole grain dishes) and ice cube trays (for sautéeing.) Thanksgiving is all around me today; I have much to be thankful for. I know that this isn't the case for everyone. I recognize my privilege and the gratitude that I feel for every little thing I have right now, even the shitty things. Each experience is a way to learn something that makes me a more resilient and helpful human. Each experience is an opportunity to be more like this stock, mixing and integrating all the nourishment available and make myself into something stronger, more concentrated. #thanksgiving2020 #wmhd2020 #yesthosearechickenfeet #witchesbrew #mindfulnessinaction #whatyoucoulddo #whatyoucouldeat

43 revolutions around the sun. Wrinkles deepen and hair turns the shade of a shooting star. And there's no other place I'd rather be. Here's some shots from the weekend (including my first homemade digital bday card from my kid! Plus Chester Lake hike!) Thanks to everyone for the kind wishes and for making my life so much more enjoyable than it would be if I was just sloggin' through on my own. In the words of the great Ani Difranco "If you're not getting happier as you get ...older, then you're fuckin' up" Here's to peace in the heart despite clouds in the sky. Love all y'all
