This weekend, I've been putting my attention on Productivityist's The Forge Your Future Challenge. One of things we've been discussing is overcoming overwhelm - a frequent theme in my own work. In his presentation, Mike Vardy shared this sentiment, "Overcommitment will always undermine excellence." That really resonates with me as I head into the busiest part of my teaching year. I hope it's helpful food for thought for you, too.

Education technology affords us teaching opportunities and teaching challenges. Our students, too, have to travel the flip side of online learning - the good and the difficult. This fine group of people embraced all the best EdTech has to offer over the last 12 weeks. In turn, I'm excited to know so many emerging digital marketers with outstanding content planning skills. By request, we created a class photo through Zoom to commemorate our pandemic-era lecture-lab. Participa...tion was voluntary! Although we've never met in person, I feel like I know each and every student in a meaningful way. (I've blurred all the surnames for privacy's sake.)

Just finished watching my first International Women's Day event for 2021 - Meena Harris in conversation with RevolutionHer Founder and CEO Maria Locker. Here are a few of my memorable takeaways: "You have to be able to receive disappoint, failure, mistakes, missteps ... spend time in that and grieve but then step back and determine what you can learn from [what happened]" ~ Meena Harris "Be kind to yourself. We all make mistakes. We all fail in different ways. It is importan...t not to just accept the defeat but step back and see what you can learn." ~Meena Harris "Give yourself grace. Talk to yourself the way you talk to your best friend." ~ Maria Locker "Everyone has a platform [not just celebrities, influencers, public figures]. Each of us has incredible power over our sphere of influence." ~ Meena Harris "Backlash is real. Being a woman who speaks up comes with backlash - violence - threats of violence .... that's very concerning and ... needs to be addressed. It's an issue in all spaces including online." ~ Meena Harris "Finding community in which you feel supported when you speak about a policy issue can help you speak up. Make connections [with people who support your voice]." ~ Meena Harris "No one can do everything. Everyone can do something." ~ Meena Harris quoting her book, Ambitious Girl On the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic: "This is a crisis that's going to take a lot of time to get out of. Take hope that brighter days are ahead but acknowledge this is crisis now." ~ Meena Harris TIP: "Look at your calendar every day and take something off. Being overbooked limits your creativity - just be without something expected of you. Time to think is good for mind, body, health, and business." ~ Meena Harris "Don't let anyone tell you who you are. You tell them who you are." ~Meena Harris #RevolutionHer #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021

Did you know I'm working on a new book? It's about working from home and I'd love to hear your thoughts. Whether you work from home routinely or are working from home temporarily, you're invited to complete the survey. (I'll share more about the new book soon - it'll be for sale in stores and online in October 2021.) I

Digital clutter can be reduced, even minimized, to create mental and digital space for other things. Still true 3 years after publication of my book, Declutter Your Data. https://angelacrocker.com/declutteryourdata/ ... : WendyD.ca

The people we surround ourselves with influence our thoughts, inspire our actions, and bolster our resolve. They also help us up when we fall and cheer loudest when we succeed. Done well, community is a glorious thing.

The latest episode of This Is Us, inspired me to learn more about Nasir Ahmed. He is best known for inventing the discrete cosine transform (DCT) in the early 1970s. The DCT is the most widely used data compression transformation, the basis for most digital media standards (image, video and audio) and commonly used in digital signal processing. Let’s talk about what you love to do. Flashback: I was a little bit excited when The Content Planner was released on this day four years ago. At the time, there had been a five year gap since my previous book. Reflecting on this gap now, I realize that perseverance pays off when you want to do what you love. In my case, writing. ... So, let’s talk about what you love to do. Tell me in the comments below.
