And the winner of the Female Vocalist category in the JazzTimes Readers’ Poll is... ME!???! It’s *completely* crazy, of course, to even be mentioned in the same breath as my idols Cecile McLorin Salvant Music, Veronica Swift, and fellow Canadian Diana Krall who I absolutely adore (and who I’d be petrified to even open my mouth in front of!).... so, of course this is hometown music fan support at play! I posted on socials and sent my newsletter asking for music fans to sup...port me to not get voted off the island, and YOU came through BIG-TIME! And it wasn’t a short survey! THANK YOU x a million. I am beside myself that you would send me this vote of confidence so early in my late-blooming career to keep going! And I am. I think of myself as a lyricist first who sings a little. I am preparing to go in the studio in Vancouver next month to record my original lyrics set to the stunning melodies of some of today’s best jazz musicians. I get quite frantic when I’m preparing new songs for recording, so it’s extra special to take time out with my sweetheart to try a restaurant. We had such a great meal in Il Terrazo’s cozy, rustic Italian-inspired atmosphere. Thank you @bcmuller2 for the Christmas gift certificate!!
