A bit of freestyle in the studio with Courtenay and a hundred feet of yellow ribbon...
Happy birthday Karynn Alida Scott!
Portraits don't have to be standard yanno....Here's a big salute to out-of-the-box thinking....
A bit of composite work with Annalise at Angel Studio...
Playing with one light and some curves a few years ago in a form called 'bodyscaping'.
Imagine you were a director of beauty. Your job is to master the lighting and coach your subject to the exact spot where she looks the best. Then lock that look in so you see what I see. So much fun....
Few can flip their hair and be pretty the first time. Of course we only keep the best. Amy nailed this twice. Things I will look for: G force effects, eyes not in focus, Eyes not on camera, lens and finally a flattering look on subject's face. It takes patience...and long hair. (duh) :)
Just taking a moment to appreciate some random expressions....
Please note smug and satisfied face. Found on beach - lazing with her favourite hooman.
Engagement portraits are part of our 'basic wedding' package. Here's one from our most recent couple...
So...I was taking pictures of my fingers the other day and a pair of lovers sitting b the seashore accidentally got in the picture and ruined it.
Are you needing a 'pick-me-up', a 'feel-good' that is non fattening or won't yuk your yum? Legacy work just for you and your family @ Angel Studio.
From Roxy & Adam's wedding party chapter. I have to say, this job was nothing, but a whole bunch of fun!
3 feet of fierce! Great portraits don't have to be expensive. For a slice of time? As low as $50!
Random thoughts....Let's talk about the word 'nice'. It's a very over used word. Things can be 'nice and light'. Yet 'nice and dark' works just as well. It's rather bland, no? I think if it were food it would taste like pink tofu. If it were a colour, it would surely be a light beige. Not too beige! That could offend somebody! That, of course, wouldn't be nice. I don't know. Anyways, have a nice day!
Here are the rest of the 'Dock Dogs' I could rescue from my steam bath experience. This is 'dog fun' of the highest order. Yes, it exceeds sticking a head out a car window. If you like dogs, you'll love this!
Did you ever hear of 'Dock Dogs'? It's a club that dogs love to join. They bring their humans. They have trained humans to use that 'stick throwing' thing at a pool! For first timer dogs it can be scary, but they are rarin' to go for their second try! It's immediate dog-fun! Rest assured, no dogs were injured here. Technical side of it; This was a learning shoot from years ago. Stepping into a swimming pool area sure fogs up a lens which made my autofocus and quality decline. Also pumped up my ISO past it's comfort zone.
"Dad takes me to hockey! Dad takes me to do fun things!" Those were the days when I was needed in his life. I look back on them with a nostalgic smile. I have no problem releasing events to the passage of time...letting my boy grow into a man. Milestones keep on coming. Like this one; The first time my lad ever took ME on a walk. He asked me. He drove. He showed me the way. Preserved, if time takes my memories. ... My son takes me on little hikes. My boy takes me to do fun things!
A phrase rarely said...."I need some statues.".....
It's easy to forget that Mom was a real person with a life of her own before we came along. We are really only just part of her journey. For most of us, the most important part. Whether you be in another city, across town, across the dinner table or singing in another realm, we honour you....(and miss you)
This is Pooks! The best cat ever! He was a gentle, mature (they said 6 years+) cat who spent 6 months in a cage at the SPCA. We took him home. His domain was the back yard which is where he spent his days unless it was raining. There, he made friends with quail and other birds. Rule of the yard was, there is a head skritch tax. You come in the yard...he'd wander over to you for a skritching. He graced us for another 12 years. Best cat ever!
Spring is here or around the corner (depending on where you hang your hat) The largest hole in the ozone layer has fixed itself. The skies are clear and the water is running clean. We can't help notice that mornings smell like 1970 these days. Angel Studio wishes all of you all the colours of spring. Stay healthy!
Latin for 'bodyguard dog', the Cane Corso is a fearless protector. The breed is intelligent and loyal to their owner. Not a dog for a newbie. This dog will try to own you. These pups are about 4lbs each now. They will grow to in excess of 100lbs. We couldn't help it. We played for them for a while. What a fun shoot that was!
Went for a walk to the notch yesterday......(open me up! I'm a panorama)
Harlow, before and after....
Two frustrated photographers went out the other day.... OR....These are the Dave's I know. Whatever...count the Daves! What?! You have something better to do? (stay safe everybody!)
Annalise presents a conflict...
They say photographers always see things differently. I see a flower and think of Lisa Simpson....
Since you're cooped up indoors I thought I'd bring some 'beach' to you....
Make sure to reserve your date! Taking bookings for the 2020 season now!
This image looks a bit weird because the front flower has been 'focus stacked'. Even your eyes can't do this! We are just so used to it our brains just accept it. Oh yeah... We do weddings and awesome portraits too! Click us on 'call now' or 'about' or check out our website.
Don't often post pics of other people's photography, but FB is bugging me that you need to be fed. So...just a tip; Angles of approach can do so much.
We were chuffed to receive a 'homegrown' vodka for Christmas! "Buy local" we always say! Need input! Is vodka a dark and sexy booze or a light and crisp refreshment? Excuse us. Must go 'test' vodka....
We claimed the island to be a "postcard" where ever we look. Then it occurred to us that postcards, like the rotary dial have slipped into obscurity. Is this a sad thing or simply not needed anymore?
Cute as a button! A friendly little 4 legged q-tip! Meet Eddie! So...which one?
Here's a recent shoot with a couple who got married in November! We tossed in a few natural light images to take advantage of an early sunset.
When you're loved......
Why is she still considered gorgeous when you know SHE drives a minivan? About that....
