Anglican Parish of Salisbury and Havelock 28.01.2021

No surprise... but due to Covid-19 restrictions, and our reluctance to invite people to gather too much, and the inability to enjoy each other's company in the ways we all prefer, we have had to cancel the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper for this year. Next year, we hope and pray!

Sunday worship services are on again!! Yellow is our favourite colour now, and since Zone 1 (moncton region) has been moved back to yellow, we can gather once again in larger groups! You're most welcome to come to church each Sunday at 9am at St. Andrew's in Petitcodiac, or 11am at St. John's in Salisbury. Sunday School is offered each week (bad jokes and typos in the bulletin seem to show up each week too, for that matter). Have a great day everyone!

As you may have heard, the Moncton health zone, Zone 1, has been moved back to the Orang recovery level. However, they have amended some of the aspects of this level, but it still has a significant impact on Parish life. Here is the information you need to know: - Worship service WILL continue, though we are back to six feet social distancing, and there is no singing allowed. Mask wearing continues to be mandatory; - The St. Andrew’s ACW Bazaar that was set for this coming... Saturday has been postponed until a later date; - Coffee-Drop in gathering at St. John’s in Salisbury on Wednesday morning have been cancelled until further notice; - The service to mark the 150th anniversary of the consecration of St. Andrew’s in Petitcodiac, set for Nov. 30, has been cancelled (it will be a part of the larger celebration of this event in the future); - The Virtual Auction being put on by the St. John's ACW will continue as planned this week; - The Advent Study beginning this coming week WILL continue, as the groups have been small enough to allow gathering together whilst maintaining social distancing requirements; If you wish to read the document containing the full recovery plan, including the restrictions at each level of recovery, click here: https://www2.gnb.ca//en/news/news_release.2020.11.0617.html

It's not a church service, but maybe it can help fill the void... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDCxDWnMay4

The Orange level means we cannot have church services the way we usually do. After seeking the advice of Vestry members and a few others in the parish, I have made the difficult decision to cancel services in the parish for this weekend. I did this because of the short amount time between now and Sunday to make alternative arrangements for worship services, and the limits they carried (for example, if we had services it would have to be with myself and nine others, and to a...ccommodate those regularly attending now, at least 5 services and sign-up forms would have to be shared and responded to!). Above all of this, the safety of everyone is of primary importance. Instead of services, a devotional will be prepared and distributed, online and at the churches, as we have done in the past. A Thanksgiving worship video is also being planned. Once again, you can leave your offering on Sunday at the church if you wish - between 9:00 and 9:30 at St. Andrew’s in Petitcodiac, and between 11:00am and 11:30 at St. John’s in Salisbury (the usual church times).

Today's government announcement putting Zones 1 and 5 into the Orange recovery phase means indoor church gatherings are now limited to 10 people. THIS WILL CHANGE OUR WORSHIP SCHEDULE FOR THANKSGIVING SUNDAY. Please stayed tuned for a further announcement regarding church services, if any, that will happen this Sunday.

Parents of Pre-Schoolers!! St. Andrew's Church in Petitcodiac has run a mid-week morning playgroup for years. With the advent of this pandemic, we, obviously, had to shut down. We are interested to know if there is interest in it starting up again. It would be play-based as before, though snacks will not be able to be provided right now (BYOS?). If you are interested, could you let us know in the comments before, and what day(s) might work for you? You can also PM us to tell us this information. Thank you!
