Last week I sat down with the gals from @100_daysof for an interview about what it was like being pregnant with my 3rd baby during a global pandemic. A big part of the interview was to reveal my expectations and perceptions about having a 3rd child. Their questions forced me to explore the realities of what it will mean to become a family of 5 (which tbh I hadn't given too much thought until this point) First things first, we are going to be outnumbered. Right now it's man o...n man, but once this baby gets here we're rolling out the zone defence. While I've always known this would be the case, it's when you actually start planning for it... aka car size/seat arrangments, different school drop-offs, etc, that you start to realize that we are going need to rejig things, real quick. This brought up a lot of conversation about control and timing. My new reality is that I am going to have less time to focus on each kiddo. My husband and I are very hands-on, and if we're being honest here, not the most relaxed parents out there, so I think we're going to have to learn how to cope with less control and more chaos. Hopefully, it will force us to not sweat the small stuff, and just embrace the new madness that awaits. Who knows, maybe this baby will also pop out with a manual on how to be more patient, and a CBD pen to help me relax. The last big point that we touched upon was having a baby during a global pandemic. While we are currently living through it, I hadn't really thought about the limitations that may present itself come Oct if COVID were to worsen. Restricted time with my husband during delivery, the limited number of visitors in our home, additional exposure from my other kids being at school, and the list goes on. I think all and all, it really boils down to the unknown. Not knowing what to expect can be some scary shit. Whether it's how to manage 3 kids 4 and under, or worrying about the world ending, there is only so much I can do to mentally prepare myself. If having kids has taught me anything, it's that no matter how much you plan for things, life is unpredictable. Case and point - welcome to 2020
