Hi everyone! We have had a tonne of new pups join our River Oaks family over the last number of months, but with our hospital work we just haven’t been posting to Facebook, as we normally do. Time to start introducing you to our new family members! Meet Diesel! He was yesterday’s puppy of the day! Super cute and sweet!

COVID-19 UPDATE May 26, 2020 HOSPITAL HOURS INCREASING Hi River Oaks Families! This is a quick note to let you know that our hospital hours are being expanded. We are now offering full services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting today we are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. We hope to be available on Saturdays in the near future.... HEARTWORM REMINDER - DOG OWNERS The warmer weather is activating the parasite that causes canine heartworm disease. If you have not yet booked an appointment to bring your dog in for testing and preventative medication please call or e-mail us as soon as possible. TICK AND LYME DISEASE PREVENTION A REMINDER: TICKS are very active at this time of year. For your dogs and cats we have preventative medication which will cause the ticks to die when they attempt to parasitize your pet. For dogs, we have a vaccine for LYME disease. Please ask us about tick medication and Lyme disease prevention.

COVID-19 UPDATE May 14, 2020 ANNOUNCEMENT Today the Premiere of Ontario announced the removal of the "Urgent Care" restriction from veterinary hospitals, starting Tuesday, May 19th. FULL SERVICE VETERINARY CARE This means that starting this coming Tuesday we are back to offering "full service" veterinary care. We will no longer have to post pone your dog's blood parasite testing, nor will we need to wait to conduct any examinations, vaccinations, wellness care, or dia...gnostic testing of any of our patients. SURGERY All surgical services are available again, including tumour removals, dental procedures, spays and neuters. Boarding and Baths We will also once again be offering boarding and bathing services. SOCIAL DISTANCING In support of provincial guidelines we will be maintaining social distancing. This means that we will be still be offering the same "curb side care" that we have been offering for the last 2 months. When you arrive at the hospital, we ask you to call our receptionist from your cell phone. One of our staff {wearing personal protective equipment) will come to you in order to bring your pet in to the hospital. We will then speak on the phone as we conduct the examinations, blood testing and treatments. Also in support of social distancing we continue to recommend that you use our MyVetStore for on line ordering of pet foods and supplies, to be delivered right to your home (or cottage, for those people who will be at their cottages). COVID-19 UPDATE May 12, 2020 HEARTWORM SEASON June 1st is rapidly approaching and as our dog owning families know, HEARTWORM SEASON is from June through to and including November. As a reminder, heartworm disease is predominantly a dog disease that is literally a disease of worms in the heart, which they get from mosquito bites. COVID-19 UPDATE March 23, 2020 The Animal Hospital of River Oaks is continually committed to the care of our patients and we are equally concerned about the ongoing well being of our families. In the uncertain times of this COVID-19 pandemic, we want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to ensure your safety while having your pets presented to us for treatment and care. As of today we have been seeing our patients using curb-side care, which means... our families have stayed in their car, one of our staff have been bringing the pet into the hospital for the examination and we communicate by telephone from the exam room to the car. While this can be an effective way to maintain the appropriate social distancing, at this time we do not know what limits are going to be put on us by the Ontario Government as they are about to place a shut down order on non-essential services. It is hoped that we will know tomorrow or the next day exactly what services we can provide, but it is likely going to be urgent care only for a little while. We are hopeful that we will still be able to use telemedicine as compared to being totally closed, and we are hopeful that we can still supply appropriate nutritional products and dispense needed medications. It is our plan to be here for you, as best as the systems in place allow us to. Please do not hesitate to e-mail or call for ongoing care, and we will keep you updated as best as we can, by e-mail newsletter, on the blog page of our website, facebook and instagram.
