October is Registered Veterinary Technician month and it's time to #ThankAnRVT. We are so lucky to have an amazing group of RVTs at AECFV. With our significant increase in case load, many would say this past year and a half has been the most challenging of their careers. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We are so proud of all of you! Let's all show them a bit of love! #RVTMonth #ThankanRVT

As the ASPCA says, their range of toxicity goes from no big deal to deadly. B.C. is home to a number of mushrooms that are toxic to your pets. It is best to be cautious and assume the mushrooms you come across are harmful. Removing mushrooms from your yard and keeping a close eye out when you are on walks is a must. https://www.aspcapro.org/resource/mushroom-poisoning-dogs

The first signs of white hair on their muzzle is easy to ignore. None of us want to think about our dog getting old. If we are lucky they are with us long enough for us to help them through their senior years. Understanding that stage in their life and having good communication with your veterinarian is important. #aecfv #aahaaccredited

Our pets are our family and we do what we can to keep them safe. We all want to avoid that unexpected trip to the ER. Injuries and illnesses are never expected but they do happen. You can count on us to be open and fully staffed if you ever need us. Check out our website for General First Aid Tips https://animalemerg.com/general-pet-first-aid/... #aecfv See more

We believe many of the veterinary hospitals in our community feel the same way. We are very busy and it is taking a little longer to provide the same level of care. Having numerous safety measures in place to keep everyone safe makes things take a little more time. Sometimes operating with lower staff levels and even the increased phone time with clients can make things take longer. We truly thank all the clients we have seen this past year for their patience and understanding. To all our referring veterinary hospitals, stay safe.

FOUND Thank you all so much for sharing! ISO a large bird cage for AECFV to borrow. We have an African Grey Parrot in hospital and she will be with us for awhile. We feel she needs a larger cage than we currently have. If you have one you can lend us for a little while, please call us. Thank you!

Our staff are usually the ones giving the shots at AECFV but yesterday it was them receiving shots at AECFV's Flu Shot Clinic. We paid the cost for the 17 staff members who opted to get a flu shot and a few of them brought along their little ones. Starting 2021 healthy and safe! More than just a wage!... #aecfv #morethanjustawage

The health and safety of our team has been at the forefront of our thoughts through all of 2020. To start the year off right, we decided to host a flu shot clinic tomorrow for our staff and their family members. Our staff are usually the ones giving the shots at AECFV but tomorrow they will be receiving!

This has been a challenging year for Veterinary Hospitals. AECFV has definitely seen an increase in patients. We all appreciate your patience at a time that has been difficult for all.

And the winners are.... Andrea and Jess. Both winners of our BC Staycation have been with AECFV for over 10 years! Aside from each RVT receiving a gift bag full of treats and a gift card, Rob and Nadine chose to present two of them with a much needed 'staycation'. The last 7 months have been difficult and during this pandemic our technicians have proven to be strong leaders for the rest of our support staff! We thank all of them for choosing AECFV. https://animalemerg.com/

October has been RVT month and we are fortunate to have an exceptional team of them. They are team leaders, problem solvers and the voices of our patients. This past year has not been an easy one and they have truly showed their dedication to our hospital and our clients, but mostly to our patients. #ProudlyRVT #ThankanRVT #RVTMonth

This Hallowe'en may not bring as many trick or treaters to your door, but there is likely still to be a lot of activity in your neighborhood. Make sure your pet's ID is up to date or keep them safely indoors. The noise of fireworks and firecrackers can really spook your furry buddy. Whether you will be out enjoying the festivities or staying in (with the big bag of candy you bought at the store ), keep the candy out of your pet's reach and please have a safe weekend.
