I really enjoyed working with beautiful Malachite to make the Turtle Hatchling bracelet. It is one of my new line of adjustable jewelry, and is also made with jasper, faceted agate, aventurine & tiger eye beads. There is a metal turtle as well as a hatchling charm. Many sea turtles are endangered by global warming. https://susannesanimaljewelry.ca//adjustable-baby-turtle-/

Growing up, Monarch Butterflies seemed a part of summer I enjoyed & would always be there. I was inspired to do the Monarch Butterfly Bracelet after finding Monarch migration is widely considered endangered. The semi-precious stones used in the bracelet include orange crackle agate, and freshwater pearls, flower stone, and black opaque Indonesian recycled glass. https://susannesanimaljewelry.ca//monarch-butterfly-brace/

Koalas are hard hit The adorable Australian Koala, is not a bear, but a marsupial that carries its young in a pouch. Sadly, the unprecedented bushfires in Australia in 2019-2020 saw tens of thousands of Koalas lose their lives, as well as 5 firefighters and 23 civilians. Over 5 million hectares burned in the province of New South Wales alone. The Australian government reported the fires were started by lightning. https://susannesanimaljewelry.ca/koalas-are-hard-hit-by-fi/

Dolphins can be pink The Amazon Pink River Dolphin, or Boto, is a freshwater mammal found in South America in the Amazon basin, Orinoco basin, and Orinoco River. It eats fish, piranhas, turtles, & crabs. Male Botos can weigh 400 lbs, and be 8 feet in length. Young Botos are grey, but as the River dolphins age, they become pink. It also thought, that when they become excited, they blush. I was amazed that a dolphin could change color as it aged.

Fun Facts for Kids Burrowing owls run after, not fly after their prey! Burrowing owls hunt in the daytime, especially early in the morning or late at night when most insects are out. Burrowing owls are named for the nests in the ground they live in, other owls live in trees.... They are the only owl that runs after its prey on the ground. They eat very small mammals and insects. The male burrowing owl finds a mate by offering her food, and then provides food for her chicks. https://susannesanimaljewelry.ca/burrowing-owls-run-after-/ See more

Lemurs, native to only Madagascar, are nearing extinction. They come in various colors, have long snouts, & some have ringed tails. It is their large eyes, however, that are most memorable. According to the IUCN, Lemurs are expected to become up to 95% extinct in the next 20 to 25 years. Christoph Schwitzer, of the Bristol Zoological Society, is involved in implementing the Lemur Action Plan, & considers the statistics concerning lemurs very alarming". https://susannesanimaljewelry.ca/lemur-blog/

Fun Animal Facts for kids Fun, quirky squirrels have many uses for their tails. They can use them for balancing, as parachutes if they accidentally fall from a tree, and to make themselves look larger to scare snakes, and other predators. Their teeth also never stop growing. They are thought to grow six inches a year, so squirrels can bite into the twigs and bark they use for nests, as well as grind hard nuts.

Many Sea Turtle species are Endangered Modern turtles are thought to have evolved from an ancestor over 200 million years ago. This ancient animal, which has survived many millions of years, is being threatened by climate change & pollution, initiated & fueled by man. Camryn Allen of NOAA, shows an unsustainable number of newborn female turtles, 99%, due to warming beaches effects. Dr. Nicole Estaban, says planting palms lowers sand temp. tinyurl.com/y8er27zb tinyurl.com/y4jljwmr tinyurl.com/y557qypb
