Animal North Network 08.11.2020

Happy Saturday, here's a sweet weekend update on Northern kitties, Hocus & Pocus from OSPCA Provincial Education & Animal Centre: "Hocus and Pocus have settled in beautifully. They are an absolute joy to have and we are so in love with them. They are a blessing. They spend their mornings playing tag throughout the house, playing with their toys and watching the birds and squirrels out the back. Other morning activities during the week are helping my Mom and myself while we a...re working from home. This includes walking across the keyboard, chasing the mouse pointer on the screen and monitoring printouts! Weekends we get to spend time with them and have cuddles and play. Afternoons are for curling up on their favourite cat trees for a nap. Evenings we spend together. We’re so excited to be able to spend Christmas with them. We’ve already been doing Christmas shopping for new toys for both. I feel your limited contact adoption process is working great. I don’t see any changes needed. I most definitely would adopt from you again. It is obvious from Hocus and Pocus that the Ontario SPCA gives the animals the best care while they are with you." #animalnorthnetwork

This pupdate definitely warmed our hearts! "This beautiful girl is my dog Oakley. I rescued her from the Ontario SPCA Muskoka Animal Centre one year ago. She was a 12 week old northern dog by the name of "Oak" when I got her. She came from Kirkland Lakes with her sister, Maple (now Annabelle) and her brother Birch (now Bear). She has since made my life so much better. She's been there for hard times and good. She is the best partner in crime I could ask for and she knows no bounds. I'm amazed by how smart she is and how in tune to my emotion she is. I can't wait to see how my life continues to change with this beautiful dog that you saved a year ago and allowed me the chance to have her in my life thank you so much for all you do, from the bottom of my heart and Oakley's." #animalnorthnetwork

You NEED to read this amazing story: Clara and Chris made the difficult decision to find a new home for their dog, Miss Ky. In many Northern communities, access to basic animal wellness services are limited. Not only does it lead to an overpopulation of animals, which is why we work alongside communities to find homes for animals in need of homes, it also makes it challenging for people to care for their animals. Wanting their beloved Miss Ky to have the best care possible, C...lara and Chris requested that she be placed with a loving family. After Miss Ky made the long journey south to the Ontario SPCA Provincial Animal Transfer Hub in Midland, Clara and Chris realized how much they missed her. They needed her back in their lives. Driving from White Dog First Nation, northwest of Kenora, Clara and Chris made the trip to be reunited with their furry family member. As soon as they saw each other, we knew belonged together! Miss Ky is now back home and we have offered to spay her to help ensure she isn’t contributing to the issue of pet overpopulation in her community. Clara has also agreed to help distribute food for animals in White Dog. We sent them home with a truck load of food for animals in their community and look forward to continuing to work with them to get pet food to where it’s needed most. Clara has also expressed interested in coordinating a shelter program to build and distribute doghouses! #animalnorthnetwork When we work together, great things are possible for animals!

Adoption pupdate: "We found (Northern Dog) Loucie, originally Nymeria, at an adoption event in Sudbury a year ago this week and officially adopted her in February. She has added a whole new level of zest to our lives with her jam-packed personality and incomparable energy! She is so smart and loving and has brought a second puppyhood for our 9 year old rescue (adopted 3 years ago) who missed out the first round. Loucie treats all her toys fairly and brings them ALL out throughout the day but, if she had to pick, her rope is the best. We couldn't be happier " #animalnorthnetwork
