The power of giving and collaboration: 8 months ago we decided that Wanderlust Creatures will start giving recognition to upstanding people in the pet community (vets, shelter workers, etc.) by gifting them free pet tags and writing up a little blurb about them to post to our social networks. This was a feel good thing that we felt was important. Upon searching for these people, I came across the founder of National Dog Day, National Puppy Day, and a host of other national an...imal related holidays and approached her via Instagram to say how much we appreciate her hard work and love for animals. I knew she had a big following and the potential for our brand's reach through her followers could be huge. Little did I know how far a small thank you message and a gifted pet tag could go... She was over the moon excited that we had recognized her for her efforts and she made us an official partner for her National Puppy Day and National Dog Day campaigns. This is HUGE for us seeing as how #nationaldogday gets millions of hashtags per year and her website sees tens of thousands of views. I've learned that collaborating with others is by far the best and most cost effective way to advertise your brand. It utilizes other's social networks to cross promote products for both parties. What cost us a very minimal amount, turned into the biggest promotional opportunity we've ever had. If you're a small business owner starting out, there is no better way to promote your brand than by utilizing other people's networks.
