We are seeing benzos in more and more samples coming through the ANKORS drug checking service. Knowing how to respond to an overdose that might have benzos involved could help save a life! NOTE: naloxone won’t work on benzos but will temporarily reverse opioid effects... when in doubt - use naloxone.

During Wednesdays Healthy Caring Meals outreach, they spoke to several individuals about their housing and food struggles. Approx. half of those we spoke with w...ere completely unaware of the debate over the rezoning of the new homeless shelter. The proposed rezoning would provide 49 beds for safe shelter that would provide access to long term lifesaving services. During our discussion with these individuals, it was clear that Cranbrook lacks in amount of proper housing. One individual nearly broke down when asking how to apply to live at the shelter if it is approved. Witnessing the boots on the ground efforts has only reinforced my belief that we as individuals, need to do more for our vulnerable citizens. The zoning bylaw hearing this Monday could make or break this project. Feb/01/2021 is the public's chance to provide feedback. Meeting is to start at 6PM MST and will be carried out virtually. Letters of support can be emailed to the city and must be received by 4PM MST tomorrow (Monday). Send to [email protected]. Feel free to share. Photos: Mr. R, sits on his bed at Cranbrook's Travelodge, where some homeless individuals can stay temporarily following British Columbia's decision to open temporary shelters for those living on the street during the COVID-19 epidemic. Mr. R. is optimistic about the discussions being held to develop a homeless shelter.
