Roy Brunette is the recipient of the Volunteer of the Month Award for December 2019. Roy curls every day at Annandale with the exception of Monday and Saturday. That is in itself a major accomplishment. More importantly to all of us however is the fact that he volunteers his time and knowledge every week to our Curling community. Roy is the Go - To guy for our Wednesday night Learn-to-Curl league and teaches our new adult curlers the game, the etiquette and the social nat...ure of our sport. Roy is always available on Saturdays to instruct at our popular Curling Clinics throughout the year. Most importantly, Roy is at the club instructing our Youth members every Sunday morning. His importance to that league was the reason that he was presented the Volunteer of the Month Award last Sunday - with the kids cheering him. His sense of community, his love for the game and his willingness to share is something young folks need to understand is of great importance as they grow; what Roy teaches them transcends the game of Curling... Roy Brunette makes us all better. Congratulations Roy and thank you.

The @townofajax is in the first phase of developing its Recreation and Cultural Master Plan for the next ten years with regards to Sports and Recreation Services in the community. They are requesting public input and have provided a survey for the public: https://imo.ajax.ca/recreation-and-parks-master-plan As the majority of our membership and our facility is based in Ajax, we feel that through this survey we have a timely opportunity to raise the awareness, the significanc...e of, and the viability of the sport of curling to the Ajax Town Councjl. Curlers are indeed an important part of the sports community and we would like for our voices/interests to be heard regarding the future recreation and cultural plan. Even if you do not live in Ajax or if you currently curl at a different club or even if you do not curl, we are looking for your support!! Please take 5 minutes to fill out the survey. The 28 teams from Annandale did us proud! We came in a very-close second place; one point separated us from the Cup. Oshawa Golf and Curling Club won the Cup with 37 points in total (but they had home-ice advantage...) We'll get 'em next year!'
