We are coming up on the 1 year anniversary of more than just quarantine/lockdown. Today marks the day that AA Equestrian, and Anne and DD have been in business for 1 year. These women have worked so hard and accomplished so much. Their teamwork and dedication to the horses and their clients is inspiring and empowering. Today we celebrate them.

We have to have fun. Some of our clients may actually be middle aged, even though they act like they're 8.

In reality what we are seeing is their highlight reel. The tip of the iceberg. As horsemen and women we all have challenges to face, no matter how successful we become. Today is National Coaches Day and a couple of boarders (who shall remain nameless) have taken control of this page. In our opinion at least, we have two of the best, talented, most dedicated passionate and kind coaches anyone could ever ask for. Anne and DD deserve all the recognition in the world but are so humble, they would never expect it. (a trait we also admire). ... We are honoured and privileged to call them our coaches, and our friends. Happy Coaches Day Anne Auty and Diana Dionisio We learn from you every day. We love you both!

This is how we feel most days.

While these pandemic times have been really difficult on all of us, they have also allowed for some good. This week we went to Palgrave to horse show. From a health and safety perspective, the staff Caledon Equestrian Park did an outstanding job. From the Gate Team, to the staff being everywhere, to the Food services with texting options..... While this required so much extra effort (that we didn't see) they were a great safety team and we are grateful for their efforts!... We had 2 shorties this week whose excitement and sense of fun was a great reminder for us about the thrill and fun showing can be. Monique Lomker Leora had great rides with a 2nd and two 8th places. Reese also had great rides with a 1st, 5th, and 7th. We had no other hunters this week but did have Emily Walsh and Jacki Forgione do well in their respective jumper divisions. We also have a special shout out to Carrie Thomas who decided to try her hand in the .90 Jumpers this weekend on Margaret Elson's Chapeaux Utopia. This was a steep learning weekend for Carrie from missing her final fence on Friday, to setting a goal of getting to the jump off....which she did today, finishing in 8th. The most important lesson this week for our students was that being proud of their efforts and in tune with their horse, using the skills from our lessons is what makes a great show day! We couldn't be more proud of all of our students!

Lenny the Barn Cat

On Sunday's we try to shine a spotlight via this space to be supportive to those who support us. After all, life is a team sport where we are all better together. This Sunday belongs to our beloved barn cat Lenny. On Thursday evening of this past week, we lost our lovely boy. All of us at Anne Auty Equestrian are utterly heartbroken. He will be missed every day. As a feral cat rescue, Lenny was the furthest thing from feral that you could get. Always chirping a...nd chatting with everyone who came into the barn, and quick to purr and cuddle with anyone who would stop to pet him. In his memory, we have collected donations for the Oakville- Milton Humane Society Barn Buddy program. This donation will be made in his honour to help more cats just like Lenny find a home and a family. He sure was a part of ours. Feel free to add your photos in the comments. Rest in Peace, Lenny. We love you.
