'A daily practice of self-love' might sound woo-woo to some, but there is strong and growing body of science to support the importance of self-love, pleasure and joy in creating sustainable, lifelong health. This approach is in contrast to most of the diet trends and quick fixes we are inundated with. Deprivation, struggle,... counting calories, cutting carbs (don't get me started on that!!!!) perpetuate the short-sighted yo-yo dieting cycle that, all too often, takes us down a damaging path. So what does this 'Daily Practice of Self-Love' look like? It looks like: Giving your body an abundant variety of carbohydrates (because that is the primary food source for your good gut bacteria - essential to all aspects of our health. Ensuring a balanced daily supply of Protein, Fats and Carbohydrates. (hormones, digestion, intestinal health, mood and energy all depend on it) Real, whole food is front and centre every day and every meal.(This is the fuel our body was designed to use! and real, whole food feeds our soul as well as our body) Most importantly, it means creating - step by step - nutrition and lifestyle habits that meet your body's needs and that you can maintain for life. And so much freedom when you've arrived at that point where travel, potlucks, special events, holidays cease to feel challenging. There won't be any more 'I should or should not eat this' or 'how do i deal with this situation' - because your way of eating will simply be a part of who you are that just doesn't change from on situation to another. That is Food Freedom!
