For some reason this is one of Andy's favourite things - having the tips of his ears rubbed! Along with smelling my feet to see where I've been. He got offended yesterday because I dried his legs with a towel that smelled like Bandit. Apparently he wants his own towel

Mingo is working in a nice relaxed walk. I'm pleased to see that he is stretching out from the shoulders at the walk at last

This video was done in 2012. The horse completely got over his mounting issues after a while. I apologize for the wind noise

Mingo is working at the trot almost completely level. This horse did the splits on ice years ago and was then ridden by a green rider who asked him to do things he wasn't capable of. This created fear and anxiety. Compensation readjusted his gaits due to the injury which has taken time to change. He just got dewormed so it gave him the poops

Very true this is positive reinforcement training. And look at that beautiful totally even trot with the cannon bones of both front and hind legs at the exact same angle

A fun day at the barn today. Thanks to my good friend Leah Grey for helping me get Andy's tail somewhat clean and his rainsheet on. He's gradually figuring things out

I can't say enough how important warm up and cool down are

Horses from my past! The grey was an Arab/Percheron mare called Narda. She was the first horse I owned in Canada back in 1979. It broke my heart to sell her, but she went on to become Endurance Champion of Canada in the early 80s. The chestnut gelding was my Secretariat son. In this photo he's about 4. This horse took me to short list for the Pan Am games in 1992. He was the toughest I've ever ridden because he was very sensitive and very brilliant. He was one of my greatest teachers

This info is crucial for horses to stay sound. Give the babies time to grow up and we wouldn't have so many horses needing hock injections

Today this gorgeous palomino paint gelding became mine Andy is 10, built like a brick 16.2 beautiful boy. He needs to get fit and have some more training, but he has a great mind. I wasn't looking for another horse, but he picked me and I couldn't resist that face he's a dream come true. Always wanted a palomino

Andy is now at my barn. Sunshine one of our school horses, is babysitting him. He's quite insecure but with time and patience he'll be fine. I'll be taking it slow and going back to basics. Very sweet boy. Can't wait to clean him up and get his pyjamas on

This is abuse not training!! Then people wonder why their horse is terrified of the leg. I would be too if someone did that to me

My rant today is animal abuse. When you see it people, instead of filming it, WHY DON'T YOU TAKE ACTION?? Shut it down. That trainer beating a horse behind the barn. That dog owner slamming their dog's head into concrete. DO SOMETHING BESIDES POSTING HORRIBLE VIDEOS IN FB!! call the cops. Stop the abuse when you see it. I can't help animals on the other side of the world, but if we all do our part wherever we are, that's the best action. I do not support extremist groups like PETA. They are largely misinformed fanatics who know nothing about animals and the reality of caring for them. We need to be our own advocates. Those of us who own animals can keep an eye open for animal welfare. Blessings

Today we had the pink skirt with the pink hat and the pink saddle pad on granny Luna. She just loved the girls and went to sleep while they brushed her way too cute!

Took Cole on a trail ride with my friend Leah Grey and her friend Christina. Mingo didn't want to come out of the water
