I am lucky enough to be open as our furry kids need food which makes me an essential business. But just because the store is open doesn't mean my business is doing well. The mall has no traffic which is understandable given the circumstances but it means less customers for the stores that are still open. What makes this whole situation worse is that for the small businesses that had to close, we watch the big box stores like Costco, Canadian tire, Walmart, Superstore, Ikea (b...iggest wow) and others stay open and thrive. They have their parking lots full and are having record breaking profits. It is so sad for the small businesses that unfortunately will be closing their doors permanently in the near future or have already. This is hard for many and everyone has their own opinions to what might be right and wrong but at the end of the day there is no real right answer unfortunately. Hopefully everyone can do their part in slowing the spread of big corporation stores and take the time to support the local businesses who do desperately need your help.
