A fun central from last week

Interesting shade match using photos only (no custom staining done in the lab). Not perfect, but blends in. Can you guess the crown(s)?

An interesting case from last week. Patient wanted 3 splinted implant crowns with high noble yellow gold occlusion. The vertical height of the crowns were quite sizeable, so after discussing with the dentist the probably gold costs for the patient we came up with this concept. Milled zirconia, prepped pre-sinteted, with gold only cemented on top. The zirconia was scanned back into the computer and the onllays were designed digitally and then 3d printed. A little time consuming, but worth the effort!

He didn't need no 3d scanner, 3d printer, or 5-axis mill!

So many things come and go through the lab, it's worthwhile to take a moment to document them. I'll try to share some techniques, some successes, and some take away from those cases that go a little sideways.

Intra-oral picture of the new Super Translucent zirconia. We've been beta testing this product since before Health Canada approval, and are proud to have launched it for use a few months back. Emax-like esthetics, CAD/CAM accuracy, 765 MPA. We will continue working on fine-tuning sintering temperatures and shading formulas. I received a picture of this one upon placement from Dr. Steven J. Hill, DMD which I think blends in quite well intraorally!

Screw retained, full arch Zirconia bridge. We kept the zirconia monolithic, and layered porcelain on the gingiva. Designed and scanned using 3shape, milled in house on a Roland DWX - 50. We're going to adding cases to the page as they come through. It's a shame to not have pictures of anything you - whether successes or learning experiences!
