Careless driving You could face more charges for careless driving if you endanger other people because of any kind of distraction. Say No To Administrative Monetary Penalties The Ontario Government is seeking input on whether they should implement Administrative Monetary Penalties (AMPS) instead of provincial offences including traffic tickets. Within the consultation paper is the suggestion that Part II (Parking tickets), Part I and in all likelihood, certain Part III offences under the Provincial Offences Act be replaced by an Administrative Monetary Penalty (AMP). The AMP process does not permit the a...ccused party to contest the matter before the Ontario Court of Justice as is currently the case. The only option provided for is an online meeting with a hearings officer to determine the quantum of the financial penalty. In effect, the public's rights under s. 11(d) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms of innocent until proven guilty will be denied. In addition, the public may still receive demerit points and license suspensions as a result of these AMPS and the consequences relating to their insurance. This means offences like speeding, fail to stop at red light or stop sign you will not be able to have a trial and are guilty as soon as the ticket is written by the police officer. You can talk to a hearing officer and request a lower fine and time to pay but that's it.
