BEGINNER TIPS TO LIVE BY IN THE GYM . 1. More time I the gym and volume training of isn't always better! . 2. Don't expect Perosnal Best's every time you walk into the gym.... . 3. Nail in the form for exercises before progressing in weight . 4. Be consistent if possible of what time you workout in the day! (Your body adapts) . 5. If you walk ten miles into the woods it's gonna take ten miles to walk back out ( bad lifestyle habits take time to correct) . 6. Expect setbacks. Keep pushing forward . 7. Don't push through muscle/tendon pain. Your body is telling you your technique form is incorrect for your body. . 8. Learn to enjoy working out find exerxises you like to do!. . 9. Track progress! Squat Tip. BAR PATH . Did you ever record your squats? . This side angle of Ian doing squats can show some mistakes that would go unnoticed from watching yourself in the mirror!.... . From this angle you can the bar on the bottom of the squat shifting toward his toes. For most of the reps! There was some good quality reps mixed in video*. We want to move the barth path straight up and down and for the bar to stay over the MIDDLE of your foot! When the bar shifts forward it takes out the ability of our glutes to fire up and help lift the weight. We are NOT in a optimal position to lifting the weight when the bar is NOT over the centre of our foot! . How can you fix this?. . You can fix this by addressing the bar position on your back! Moving it lower will provide a more comfortable position sometimes to see that bar stay over the mid foot!. . Another reason could be our hips aren't sitting far enough back and we are bending to much at the knees!. . There could be other reasons why the bar is shifting forward but these are just a few to try out!. . Exercise Tip. . How many days a week should you workout? . The common belief that the more days a week in the gym is always better and should get you to see results quicker.... . But this isn't always the case for some people. Sometimes three full body workouts a week may actually progress you faster in the gym! It sounds crazy but our bodies can only can change and get stronger if we are getting the recovery we need!. . Many factors come into play with deciding how many days a week you should workout. Factors like how long have you been working out , age, other stressors in your life. . So here's a little example. Say you are new to the gym and want to go hard in the gym and want to train 5 to 6 days a week. This is NOT the approach you should be taking. Your body is used to ZERO workouts a week and then you throw 5 HARD workouts at it how do you expect it to recover. The slow build up approach is will get you better RESULTS!. . Start with three days a week max. Maybe start with that for the first month then head to 4 days etc. Remember your workouts should give you more energy throughout the day and improve you sleep,mood.
