What’s in the air at Algonquin Outfitters? At some stores, it could be campfire smoke, on occasion. But, there’s also something else, something less aromatic but much sweeter. Even when it’s not Valentine’s Day, it can often be said that love is in the air! https://algonquinoutfitters.com/thats-not-woodsmoke/

We're all counting the days until we can venture outside once again. Getting a dose of nature is good for our bodies and our brains. The WeGetOutside community recently had a great discussion about how getting outdoors affects our mental and physical health. Join us online every Tuesday at 7:30 pm on Twitter to chat about how #WeGetOutside. https://algonquinoutfitters.com/wegetoutside-chat-round-up/

We want to introduce you to Dave Paddock, our Nordic Ski specialist in Haliburton. Dave came to Algonquin Outfitters after three years with Joanne Sharpley’s Source for Sports, where he worked in their tech shop with Kevin Sicard, sharpening skates, tuning and waxing skis and repairing bikes. Dave’s interest in cross-country skiing began in the 1980s, working in a cross country ski shop and grooming ski trails for Circle R Ranch outside London. After moving to the KW region,... he continued to groom trails for the Waterloo Nordic Ski Club. He attained his Level 3 CANSI instructor certification (Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors). In 2017 he and his wife Judy Paul, also a ski instructor, moved to Haliburton Village. Dave has also been given the opportunity here to groom trails at Moosewoods with the Haliburton Highlands Nordic Ski Club. After retiring from a 30-year teaching career, Dave enrolled in an intensive 2-week bike mechanics course through the Winterbourne Bike Institute and Conestoga College. He volunteered at the local community bike hub, Recycle Cycles, where he rebuilt used bikes, and members of the community would come in to get help repairing their bikes. Dave is just one of the highly skilled employees at Algonquin Outfitters who wants to help you have the best outdoor experience possible, no matter what the season. https://algonquinoutfitters.com/store-location/haliburton/ Haliburton Highlands Nordic Trails Assoc, Circle R Ranch, Waterloo Region Nordic Sports Club @SkiHaliburtonNordic CANSI-Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors
