We currently have two beautiful girls being fostered at Petsmart who have been patiently waiting to find homes they can call their own for a while now. LEFT: Jemma! This sweet girl is 1.5 years old. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. Jemma is always excited to see people and she instantly starts purring upon being pet. She is very curious and is always interested in what the people around her are doing. She’s laidback, quiet and knows how to keep herself entertaine...d with toys. She also enjoys being brushed which is good since her hair is long! RIGHT: Boov! This sweetheart just turned 1. She is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. Boov is always grateful to be shown love but she hasn’t had much experience with humans so at times fast movements can disrupt her. She loves to play but since she doesn’t always understand interacting with humans she can at times play rough. Her ideal adopter would be someone who is willing to be patient and move at her own pace with her so that she is comfortable and she would prefer to be the only cat in the home. If you are interested in adopting either of these girls please call the shelter at (403) 487-5671 Ext. 1 or send us a message here! :)

We would like to send a huge shoutout/thank you to Weddingstar Inc. for donating us a countless amount of masks. Not only has their great generosity and selflessness made it so that our staff can mask up comfortably since these masks have adjustable ear straps and are lightweight, but we have enough that they will also be available to the public for a minimum $5 donation. The donations we acquire from these masks will go towards all future vetting costs, and day to day cleani...ng supplies since our need for them has increased due to Covid. These masks are available in adult and child sizes, however, if you’re an adult with a small face then we’ve got you covered! Zsjena is wearing a child size cat mask in this photo, and Cristina and D’lo are wearing the adult size dog masks. If you are interested in one of these masks, please contact us here on Facebook or by phone at (403) 487-5671 Ext.1 to arrange a time to pick one up! See more

Are you a Harry Potter fan? Are you looking to add a four legged feline member to your family? If the answer to both of those questions is yes, then I should be perfect for you based on my name alone! I’m Bellatrix! In 3 days I will be 3 months old, my vaccinations are up to date and I am microchipped. The staff say my personality is the perfect balance of laidback and playful, because while I am energetic a lot of the time I do also really love a long nap and am good at acc...epting new things. Because of that, I ended up being an honorary older sister for a kitten who was way smaller than me so that he wasn’t lonely. I enjoyed every second I got playing with him but I’ve been really lonely since he got adopted. I am a very chatty girl who admires all forms of attention and whenever a staff member pets me I get so excited that I can’t help but rub my face against their hand to say thank you. If you are interested in adopting me please call (403) 487-5671 Ext.1 or send a message here to book an appointment to do so! :)

Introducing Bongo! Bongo is a 1.5 year old neutered male with all of his current vaccinations. He is a chocolate Lab/Border Collie cross. If you’re looking for a big boy with a big personality, Bongo is the guy for you! Bongo’s favourite thing to do is give hugs so we always have to be prepared for 85 pounds of pure happiness coming straight at us every time we open his kennel door! He does well in vehicles despite being slightly nervous initially. He is very food motivated ...and can follow basic commands such as sit, and stay. One of Bongo’s best qualities is his ability to take treats gently. Bongo will do best with an owner who has previous dog experience, and is able to be stern with him to further his manners. Due to his size and the energy he carries, his ideal home would be on an acreage where he can run free and be put to work, or in a home that has a spacious backyard and owners who live a very active lifestyle to keep up with him! If you are interested in adopting Bongo, please call the shelter at (403) 487-5671 Ext. 1 or message us here to schedule an appointment!

Hello there, my name is Stripes! I am a neutered male who’s just under 3 years old, I have all my current vaccinations and am being fostered at Petsmart. The staff at APARC think my unique light honey colouring adds to my handsomeness. What do you think? I am a very loving, goofy boy who will never get sick of your attention. In fact, if you’re petting me and then stop, I’ll most likely grab onto your hand to try and convince you to keep petting me. I’m very easygoing and qu...iet and you can often find me napping if I’m not receiving attention from someone. I get along super well with other cats and I would love to have a sibling once I get adopted, but with that being said I would also be okay on my own since I know how to be independent too. If you would like to adopt me, please call the shelter at (403) 487-5671 Ext. 1 or send a message here to arrange an appointment to do so! :)

If you’re in the market for a fluffy best friend who talks nonstop, then I am happy to say I am without a doubt the perfect guy for you! As you can tell, the staff had a challenging time taking photos of me without me telling them stories. My name is Batman, I am a neutered male, have all my current vaccinations and will be turning 3 years old on December 6th. The last few days have been rough for me. The lovely people who work here at APARC noticed that I had a small injury... on the back of one of my ears that required medical attention. Thankfully with the help of them and the amazing vets they work with, they figured out what was wrong with me right away. It was nothing serious and I am happy to say that I am already on the mend. I am a very loving guy, who adores all forms of attention. If you have an extra spot on your couch, or room on your lap, I would love to claim it. Today the staff members introduced me to a dog and another cat, who I both loved! Since my birthday and Christmas are both quickly approaching, I hope I am lucky enough to find my forever home soon. That would be the best birthday/Christmas gift ever! If you are interested in adopting me, please call the shelter at (403) 487-5671 Ext.1 or send a message here!

This female was claimed to be found in Crescent Heights, but we have since discovered that the information we received was false, and she was actually found on the Highway north of Ralston. She does not have a collar, tags or a microchip. If this cat belongs to you please call (403) 487-5671 ext.1 and visit www.aparc.ca/reclaim ***PLEASE READ*** As we've stated before, we cannot take cats from outside city limits, unless it is an emergent situation, as per our contract with... the city of Medicine Hat. This is due to the limitation of resources, and the limited space we have available. We understand the concern for strays, especially in colder temperatures, however, when we are given false information about a found animal, this not only takes spots away from other cats we are obligated to, but also limits the chances of the cat being reunited with their owner when we can't accurately disclose the location the animal was found to the people who may be looking for their lost pet We are aware that most people have good intentions, however, there are other resources specific for stray cats that are found outside city limits. Thank you for your understanding. -APARC Staff See more

We’d like to introduce this big handsome guy, Grizz! Look at those beautiful green eyes! Grizz is neutered, his vaccinations are up to date and he is just under 2 years old. His birthday is on Christmas Eve, what better gift to give him than a loving forever home?! Unfortunately we don’t know Grizz’s history prior to being brought to us, but it is clear that he was not given a good life due to the nervousness he shows with new people. If you move slow with Grizz and you show... him that he can trust you, he quickly becomes a very loving boy and he is always gentle even during times he is scared. Grizz’s ideal household would be calm, and if there are children present it would be best that they are old enough to understand his boundaries to avoid any discomfort for him. We have introduced him to other cats in shelter and he has been very curious about them, although an older cat would probably be best if he is going to have a feline sibling. Once you start to pet Grizz’s head, he will roll over and not let you forget to give him shoulder scratches too! He is also a big fan of napping. If you are interested in adopting Grizz, please call the shelter at (403) 487-5671 Ext. 1 or message us here to schedule an appointment!
