Magic Mush Fuzz/Octave The concept is inspired by the Foxx Tone Machine with the switchable octave-up. The FTM uses diodes to generate the octave-up effect whereas The Magic Mush generates the same effect but while using transistors. There are a few different transistors inside. The input & output features BC108 metal buckets with some 2N5089's for the gain stage and an S9015 to make the octave. Really nice sustain and crushing tones perfect for all kinds of heaviness. What's that you say? A wah pedal crafted entirely from wood!? The "AP Wah" is crafted using red oak which is known for being extremely durable. The circuit is loosely based on the vintage Color Sound wah pedal from the 60's. It is an inductorless design. The most famous of Gilmour pedals is, of course the Overdriver.... This is usually a "set it and forget it" type of effect, almost used like a compressor. The Invader! This pedal features two BC108 metal bucket transistors to make up the main portion of the circuit, similar to classic fuzz designs but with an added output stage for some additional sustain and grit. Cleans up beautifully when the guitar volume is rolled back!
