The Mountain Goat, scientifically known as the Oreamnos Americanus. It’s closest known relatives are wild goats from the Himalayas. They used to range down as far south as northern New Mexico evidenced by recovered remains. This specimen is from the northern region of B.C. What a remarkable creature, truly a creature of the most rugged regions of both the Rockies and the Coastal mountain ranges.

The Rough Legged Hawk. A statue of surveillance, keeping an eye out for movement of any kind. An incredible predatory bird. Keep your eye on the sky.

The magnificent mountain lion or cougar, or the Felis Concolor is widespread across North and South America. Along with the coyote, they are amongst the most widespread of the carnivores. With an ever expanding range, even into the southern part of the Yukon Territory. Their prey ranges from rodents to the mighty moose. Cougar populations are strong and growing in British Columbia. The next time you are out walking on the edge of your community or in the wilds of B.C., be aware that you may be being watched. The black walnut base was unavailable for photos.
