Almonte Pakenham Minor Hockey Association 01.04.2021

Thursday March 4, 2021 Hello All, It is with deep regret that due to the recent outbreak in our region APMHA is going to have to cancel the remainder of the season. Mississippi Mills in conjunction with our public health unit have made the decision to close the arenas in Pakenham and Almonte leaving us no other option at this time. APMHA would like to thank Calvin Murphy and the entire Mississippi Mills staff for all they have done to keep us on the ice this year.... We truly believe that everyone involved from parents, siblings, players, coaches, managers, covid captains and our executive have done a phenomenal job getting hockey on the ice this year and following the protocols. I would like to thank everyone for everything they have done and their continued support of APMHA and the great sport of hockey. I truly believe that although it has not been normal, it has provided a much needed outlet for many kids to find some semblance of normalcy this year. It is too early to say what next hockey season will hold, but we hope that you will all return to APMHA and encourage others to join as well for what we hope can be a more typical hockey program. We will meet in the next couple of days to rework the refund amounts and we appreciate your patience while we work through the details. I'd like to send a special thanks to our executive who all adapted to different roles as needed and provide an immense amount of commitment and support to develop plans that allowed us to play as much as we did. Again, thank you to each and every one of you. We know this is a difficult time and we hope that everyone stays safe and healthy. All the best, Brad Doran-Veevers APMHA President

Good morning, To All Members of APMHA, We hope that everyone is staying safe and well.... The executive has been working behind the scenes to ensure we have the most up to date information from the province and our public health unit ensuring that we are ready to effectively communicate what the rest of the season might look like if the lockdown measures are lifted. We are expecting an announcement on February 8th or 9th and will be having a District 4 Meeting on February 10th. Mississippi Mills is committed to getting the ice and facilities ready as soon as possible, if we are given a green light. Our hope is that the province allows us to move back to a regionalized approach, allowing us to operate under the green and yellow zones. If the measures were lifted today we would be considered a green zone which is great news. We will reach out as soon as possible and hope to bring everyone good news on how we can get our APMHA players back on the ice. Thank you, Brad Doran-Veevers APMHA President

To our APMHA membership: On Monday, the Government of Ontario announced a Provincewide Shutdown To Stop Spread of COVID-19 and Save Lives. The shutdown will be in effect as of Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 12:01 a.m, and will be evaluated after 28 days in Southern Ontario, to determine if it is safe to lift any restrictions or if additional time is required. The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District (LGL) Health Unit, under which the APHMA falls, is considered part of Southern ...Ontario for the purposes of this shutdown. Under the shutdown, facilities for indoor sports and recreational fitness activities will be closed. Unfortunately, this means we will be putting our APMHA hockey programming on hold from Boxing Day until January 23, 2021. In consultations with our local arenas and under the guidance of the LGL District Health Unit and the Government of Ontario guidelines, we will reassess at that time and advise our membership of the status of our programming moving forward. We know this is not what any of us want and as soon as we are able to resume our programming we will make every effort to get the kids back on the ice as soon as possible. We want to acknowledge the partnership with Mississippi Mills and are thankful for the work they will do, over this period, to upkeep the ice conditions in both arenas. Adjustments will be made to our cost recovery fee structure for the second half once we have confirmation of dates. We ask for your ongoing patience and understanding as we assess the full impacts of this shutdown in order to determine what those adjustments might be. The full details on the provincewide shutdown can be found at the Government of Ontario's website: https://www.ontario.ca/page/covid-19-provincewide-shutdown and via the LGL Health Unit's website. The health and safety of our players and their families are our top priority. We wish all our members a happy, healthy and safe holiday season. APMHA Executive
