Happy Winter Solstice! I hope that in the hustle bustle of this holiday season you’re finding time to rest, nourish and deeply take care of yourself. I know that this time of year can require a lot of output energetically from us when the real need to go inward in the winter season is pulling us to tune-in. ... This is a time to remember to follow the natural rhythms of the season, to allow more quiet and stillness into our daily lives, to find inner balance by letting go of things that are no longer of need to us. The natural tendency of the winter is to spiral inward. It’s a very potent time to nourish the feminine, cultivating a deep inner light. From here we can source from and respond from a quiet magnetic pulse, instead of getting caught up in and exhausting ourselves by an outward, busy, more frenetic, push. The winter is calling us into more stillness. We’re being asked to watch patterns in nature like the fallow field that needs to remineralizer, that needs to lie seemingly dormant or dead to outside appearances while magic is happening under the surface. Magic is brewing in the darkness. Another pattern to learn from nature is the release of the trees, that they cling not to their leaves but trust that in cycles of life one must let go before new growth and new beauty is possible. Trust is key. This is a time of year that is encouraging us to let go, to let what no longer nourishes us be composted, to let old out-molded patterns, beliefs and even outgrown relationships go. What needs to die to make room for new growth, new life, a new you? Trust and release Celebrate the return of the light The return of the fire inside of you.

Rosemary is probably one of my all-time favorite smells this time of the year. Rosemary is known for remembrance. This potent herb is a special and ancient medicine used during Winter Solstice in far Northern lands, it was said to spice the divine dish offresh caught wild game, and, poultry. Later it wassaid to be used in the making wines and cordials and even used as a festive Christmas decoration to liven up and freshen up a space. The folklore also says, Rosemary was w...ell known to many ancient practitioners, used for strengthening your memory and helping to support brain function. Many priests used rosemary as incense in religious ceremonies and it’s considered an herb that is used for protection from evil spirit and evil witches. I’ve also read in England it was once burned in the homes of those where suffered from illness and infections. Interestingly enough, for an herb, rosemary is surprisingly hardly and can with stand harsh winters, unlike most other herbs said to live up to 30 years+ Rosemary has also been associated with the goddess Aphrodite - the goddess of love. There are many images of her that many believe included rosemary. According to the Herb society of America rosemary was used in the early time of Greeks and Roman they would wear a garland of herbs on their heads to help with memory and protection. And is said to always be grown in the Royal Gardens. ---------------------------------- Here are a few ways you can in corporate fresh rosemary in your home: Hang a bundle at your front door to keep harmful energy away Make a magical festive herb wreath that includes rosemary Fresh stalks can be crushed in a mortar and pestle to release their oils and fragrance and used for cooking and baking Used in aromatherapy to assist with brain function and memory. Stimulate hair growth. Ease stress. And increase circulation Herb Bundles: make an herb bundle or add it to an incense with some cinnamon and orange peel and burn in your home to increase festive cheer Smudging and purification: dried bundles of rosemary can be used to smudge your home and help you create sacred space and cleanse any lingering illness from your home .

Fall ... and just like the leaves on a tree it was time to let go. Releasing everything that was no longer worth the energy to hold onto. ... It was time to open up and release the tension and the struggling. What was meant to stay - stayed. What was meant to leave - left. It was that easy. Flowing with the changing of the seasons.
