While it makes us happy to lift heavy, we always do so with an emphasis on the safe introduction of proper levels of intensity. At Apple Valley CrossFit our trainers work with you to determine when it is appropriate to introduce intensity. The elements we consider include: Mechanics - Do you know the points of performance of the movements? Can you display these points of performance in all movements?... Consistency - Can you perform multiple repetitions of movements well without instruction? Also, have you been in the gym long enough to develop a tolerance for intensity? Intensity - Once you consistently display sound mechanics and acquire a suitable training history, trainers can introduce intensity with appropriate loads and speeds.

You come into the gym, you push through workouts, you work hard and are rewarded with improved mobility, stamina, strength and times. We have also been working hard as a community to minimize the spread of COVID-19, and that hard work has been paying off. ATTENTION: As you are aware, the situation with COVID 19 is escalating with a few confirmed cases already in Nova Scotia, at least one of which is here in Kings County. Safety is and always will be our number one priority. It is our goal as owners to always do what is best for the community even if that decision doesn't please everyone. I know this is a scary, uncertain and confusing time. Some of you will not like this decision or understand it, we ask that you please res...pect the decision, and know that it is not made lightly, and is made with the best interests of you and your families in mind. We want to do our part to help flatten the curve. Provinces across the country are closing down shops and operations and Nova Scotia isn't far behind. We want to lead by example and be ahead of this thing the best we can. The quicker we get this on lock down, the quicker we can put it behind us, the best way to do that is to limit contact with other people. We wish you all the best in the weeks to come. We urge you to take this seriously, the less you need to be out and about the better. If you have any questions about any of this, please don't hesitate to reach out.

A huge shout out to all of the athletes from AVC who competed at the CFD's Blizzard Beatdown this past weekend. A special congratulations to Kait Hancock & Rebekah Wetmore for making it to the finals in the Ice Breakers and Scaled divisions, and a big shout out to Kami Anderson & Jessica Davidson for competing in their first even competition, and absolutely crushing it. Another big congratulations to Jordan Apostoleris for placing 1st in the Masters division and taking home ...the gold. This is the biggest competition in the Maritimes and AVC had one of the biggest turnouts as always. Renovation update. The stairs and two walls to the entry room are gone!! The boys are back at it today after some well deserved holiday rest and relaxation. Once the drywall is laid on the back wall, they will start with the entry counter and tie in the electrical panel wall. Fingers crossed they are done by the end of the week.
