Lori B is a relatively new employee. She slid in like she's always been here, showing great care and compassion to the residents. She is also very supportive of her co-workers and always, always has a smile. Way to go Superhero Lori!

It’s been another fun and exciting day at Applewood today. Leslie has arranged for the staff to receive turkeys or trees. We are all so grateful for our thoughtful and generous leader. She added in special treats too!! Thank you superhero Leslie.

Greta is a long term employee, who works in housekeeping. She cleans, disinfects and scrubs surfaces that play host to dangerous germs and viruses - an especially important job in today's world. She also works as an advocate for employees and residents alike. Thanks Superhero Greta for your contributions.

Although Peterborough is moving to Stage 2, remember that it's still not safe to hug and kiss people outside of your pod. Gail Battelle these shirts are a great reminder. We need one for every resident!

This lucky young lady is the proud recipient of the Education Fund, from Greenwood Retirement Communities (our Head Office). Carley is studying to be a paramedic. Congratulations to her and best of luck with her studies in this strange new world!

With Thanksgiving approaching, I am thinking of the many blessings in my life. This lady immediately came to mind. Andrea is one of the most organized and caring professionals out there. She is dedicated to her faith and her family and comes to work with a smile and leaves work with a smile. Thanks Superhero Andrea for going above and beyond.

In the midst of this global pandemic, some might have trouble finding gratitude. Personally, I am thankful for the profound professionalism and dedication the Applewood team has shown. They step towards risk rather than back away from it. They have learned to work together in ways they hadn't imagined they'd have to. GO TEAM APPLEWOOD!!!

Legend Celtic & European Apparel, located at 4272 Hyw 7 in Norwood, Ontario wanted to show the residents they are thinking of them. They have a gifted each resident with a beautiful pair of Irish made wool socks. They hope this kind gesture will bring joy and connection. Thanks to Lisa Nail, owner of the store, for getting the community behind this initiative. YOU ROCK!

One of the things that people most often comment on when they tour Applewood is how clean it is. This is one of the reasons why! Joanne has worked in the housekeeping department for over 25 years. She takes great pride in her work, is kind to all she meets and likes a good joke. Thanks for being so awesome Superhero Joanne.

Whoever says dogs aren't our best friends, well, they just never had a dog. Thanks for the pictures Lori B!

Today, our wonderful resident/friend John, celebrated his birthday. His daughter brought in 2 "cupcake cakes" to share w everyone. John is a proud, retired police officer. Happy Birthday to a really great man !!

Today, we celebrated ALL Applewood Superheroes. Angie ordered in hamburgers and hotdogs and Leslie fired them up on the grill. It was a perfect day to enjoy a complimentary BBQ in the Courtyard. Thanks for the gesture --- it was really appreciated.

This lady brings love and light to Applewood. She works as a PSW and is genuine, patient and kind. She has many talents that she happily shares - she's an expert crafter, she plays the guitar and she has an outfit for every occasion. We are so incredibly blessed to have Superhero Gail as part of our team.
