Although the province is beginning to re-open, we have made the decision to continue operating with our locked-door policy. While we miss seeing all of our wonderful clients, we want to ensure we are doing our part in continuing to minimize the spread of COVID-19 while still being able to serve our beloved patients. Please continue to call ahead for medication and diet refills and we will resume with curbside pick-ups. We do ask that you pay with credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or e-transfer whenever possible as contactless payment is preferred. We will continue operating with our normal business hours. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Your Team at Apsley Veterinary Services

On the rare occasion we actually see a parasite squirming around in fecal sample. Normally we have to use a microscope to see them, that is why regular fecal testing is recommended. #medicinemonday #tapeworms #parasites #fecaltestingisimportant

Thursday was doppelganger day at AVS! Sophie came in for incision check and made the staff do a double take because she looks identical to Kylas dog Lenny! They even share similar traits with endless energy, shedding everyday all day and the unique couch potato posture. This leaves us with the question: does your pet have a doppelganger?

Summer is the season when immature blacklegged ticks are very active! Did you know that even with a regular tick checks, they can be very hard to see (as small as a poppy seed)? That is why it is important to keep your pet protected against ticks, even as the temperatures climb. Contact us for more information. #tickseasoncanbeeveryseason #yourvetknowsticks https://ticktalkcanada.com/seasonality-of-ticks/

For your safety, and for ours, we are still operating with a locked door policy/curbside service & pick-up. What does this mean for you and your pet? Here is what to expect when you arrive at AVS for an appointment or to pick-up items: 1. Please park, and when possible, turn your vehicle off. Lets reduce our carbon pawprint as much as possible.... 2. Call us at 705-656-2838 or text us at 613-505-9334 to let us know you have arrived. 3. If you are picking up an order, we will process payment over the phone (or bring the debit machine to you) and bring your items out to your vehicle. 4. If you have arrived for an appointment, you will be transferred to an RVT or Veterinary Assistant (VA) and they will go over some questions about your pets health. Once this is completed the RVT or VA will come out to your vehicle to bring your pet into the hospital. 5. The veterinarian will perform a nose-to-toes examination and call you with their findings, recommendations and/or treatment plan. 6. Once we are finished treatment and have gathered all of the necessary medications/product, we will transfer you to reception for payment. When possible, we do ask that you pay with a Visa or Mastercard over the phone or an e-transfer. If you do need to pay with debit, we will bring the machine out to you. We are not accepting cash at this time. 6. Once payment has been received, our RVT or VA will return your pet to you. We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time. #curbsideservice #curbsidepickup #covid19protocols #stillhereforyouandyourpet
