We understand that knowing how to properly recycle items can be a bit puzzling. Especially the reasons between dropping items at Aquatera’s Eco Centre and placing them at your curbside with the Blue Bag Recycling program. Here is some information on how it's done: CURBSIDE RECYCLING Curbside recycling doesn't require materials to be separated by paper, plastic, metal and cardboard as they are processed in a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) that separates them out. A MRF is a... specialized plant that receives, separates and prepares recyclable materials for marketing to end-user manufacturers. ECO CENTRE Eco Centre recycling does require materials to be separated in the marked blue bins as each material type is separated and bulked in Grande Prairie, then sent to different processing facilities that do not have a MRF. Please use caution and watch for children and pets in cul-de-sacs and streets with large snow piles. Drivers and collection trucks may have difficulty seeing around these snow piles which could lead to unsafe conditions. Snow Safety Tips: Do not enclose snow structures, make roofs or form a tunnel that could collapse. Actively supervise children.... Never play in or on snow banks that border roads, as snow plows, collection trucks and other drivers may not know there are children on/in them. #helpinggrowhealthycommunities

November 19 is World Toilet Day which aims to raise awareness of the 4.2 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. Did you know... Over half of the global population (4.2 billion people) lack safe sanitation. 40% (three billion people) of the global population live without basic handwashing facilities with soap and water available at home.... Globally, 80% of the wastewater generated by society flows back into the ecosystem without being treated or reused. Around 297,000 children under five (more than 800 every day) die annually from diarrhoeal diseases due to poor hygiene, poor sanitation or unsafe drinking water. Everyone should have access to sustainable sanitation, alongside clean water and hand washing facilities to help protect and maintain our health. This is something we may take for granted, but would be hard to live without. Today, and everyday, be grateful for access to basic sanitation and clean, safe, reliable water! ...and remember only 4P's go in the toilet (pee, poo, toilet (paper) and puke) to avoid costly backups and repairs.
