Bonus staff spotlight! Meet our assistants, Miss Faith & Miss Hannah Both Miss Faith & Miss Hannah have danced with Arabesque since we opened in 2016! Fun facts about Miss Faith! ... She loves reading (specifically fantasy and paranormal books), and she dislikes spiders . Something unique about Miss Faith is that it's impossible for her to sneak up on anyone, because her toes crack every time she takes a step! (Good ol' dancer's feet ) Some fun facts about Miss Hannah! Miss Hannah loves to sing and dance, but dislikes spicy food . Something unique about her is that she can still dance, even though she's really, really clumsy (her words! )

The final Arabesque staff spotlight is Miss Erin Miss Erin first discovered her passion and love for the art of dance at the young age of two. Miss Erin has trained throughout her life in the disciplines of jazz, tap, modern, lyrical, contemporary, and ballet, including participating in her BATD Ballet Examinations. Miss Erin was accepted into the York University Dance Program and during her time at York she trained extensively in the disciplines of ballet & modern under th...e instruction of such professionals as Karen Bowes- Sewell (National Ballet of Canada), Claire Wootten (Alberta Ballet Company), Helen Jones (Martha Graham Company), & Donna Krasnow (founder of C-I Training). Miss Erin has her: *Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours, Specializing in Dance *Bachelor of Education Primary/ Junior Division *Special Education Part 1 and is an *OCT Certified Teacher. She is also certified in Acrobatic Arts. Fun facts about Miss Erin! She loves curling up & cuddling with her two dogs (Maple & Noah), she really dislikes clowns (they creep her out ), and something unique about Miss Erin is that she likes Hawaiian pizza (even though she used to be very against it ).

Today's Arabesque staff spotlight is Miss Kristen! Miss Kristen started taking dance and gymnastics at a young age. She trained and competed in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, musical theatre, hip hop, and modern dance, as well as vocal, theatre, and cheerleading; but found her passion specifically in acrobatics. By age 15, Miss Kristen had won a Young Choreographer's Award for her first competitive acro piece. Miss Kristen has her: *Bachelor of Science (Kinesiology) *Diploma ...in Fitness and Health Promotion *Artistic Gymnastics & Trampoline Certifications & *Risk Management Training. She is also certified in Alixa Flexibility (Module 1 & 2), and Acrobatic Arts. Some fun facts about Miss Kristen! Miss Kristen loves to travel (& even travelled to New Zealand on her own a couple of years ago), she really dislikes onions, and something unique about Miss Kristen is that she doesnt drive

Today's staff spotlight is Miss Jessica! Miss Jessica is a graduate of York University's School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design. During her time at York, she performed in Fleur De Sel, Dance Innovations Counter/Point, Terpsichore-in-progress and Beginnings & Endings. Miss Jessica was also a member of the York Dance Ensemble's pre-professional modern dance company, and performed with them in numerous shows, as well as on TEDX. While at York, Jessica trained in the... Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus, and the modern dance styles of Jose Limóné and Martha Graham, under the direction of professionals including Helen Jones (Martha Graham Company), Jenifer Bolt, John Ottoman (ProArteDanza Director and Coordinator), and Holly Small. During her final year at York she studied under the direction of Modern Dance artist, Julia Sasso, participating in choreography and performance intensives. Miss Jessica has her: *Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours, Specializing in Performance & Choreo. *Bachelor of Education, Primary/ Junior Division *Special Education Part 1 & 2 and is an *OCT Certified Teacher. She is also certified in Alixa Flexibility (Module 1 & 2). Some fun facts about Miss Jessica! She likes to keep busy and enjoys shopping, but doesn't really enjoy reading. Something unique about Miss Jessica is that when she was born, she only weighed 3lbs.

Today's Arabesque staff spotlight is Miss Sharon (and her dog Suzie )! Miss Sharon has been involved with dance in a multitude of capacities over the past 25 years. These include studio owner, backstage director, as well as dance parent (to Miss Erin & Miss Kristen ). Miss Sharon's background is as a Developmental Services worker, and she has worked with children in a variety of fields including early learning programs & daycare. Miss Sharon also has over 30 years of exper...ience in Customer Service & Relations. Some fun facts about Miss Sharon! She is not a fan of heights, she loves spending time with her kids, & something unique about Miss Sharon is that she has a 31 year old rescue turtle!

This week we will be getting to know the Arabesque staff a little bit better! First up for the week is Miss Liz Miss Liz has been dancing since the young age of 3 years old, and teaching dance since the age of 14. She is trained in Musical Theatre, Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Acro, Contemporary and Lyrical. Miss Liz loves to teach dance and her favourite styles are Acro, Tap, and Musical Theatre. Miss Liz has an: *Advanced Diploma in Music Theatre Performance *Bachelor of ...Music Theatre *BEd Int./Sr. Division (Drama, Music) and is an *OCT Certified Teacher. She is also certified in the A.D.A.P.T Syllabus, as well as Acrobatic Arts. Here are some fun facts about Miss Liz! Miss Liz likes campfires, but doesn't like summer (she's a big winter person!) Something unique about Miss Liz is that she has one arm that is significantly longer than the other.

We are so impressed with how our dancers have been adapting to the new protocols! Moving across the floor and maintaining physical distancing in younger classes can be a challenge. Our 6 by 6 boxes have space in between to allow for even more distancing, and the colour coded lines help to direct students in an easy way! That way dancers are still moving around, but are able to maintain their distance #physicaldisdancing

The morning camp will run from 8:30am-11:30am, and the afternoon camp will run from 12:30pm-3:30pm.... The cost is $25/day with 15% off any additional children within the same family. Students will have to register for the full week as we are required to maintain the same cohorts of 10 or less. There will be dance, arts & crafts, a homework/ reading period, and games! Join us for a Virtual Open House! Are you interested in signing your child up for dance, but are unsure what style of dance they would enjoy? We can help! This year we are making our annual Open House...virtual! How it works: Decide what type of dance your child/ children are interested in trying! Fill out the information in the form on our website! Saturday, August 22nd we will email you a FREE pre-recorded dance class, in the style of your choosing, for you and your child to try in the comfort of your own home! For every new student that signs up to recieve a pre-recorded class, you will automatically be entered to win a 'waived registration fee' for our upcoming Fall Session! (The winner will be selected on August 24th)

"In a world where you can be anything, be kind." With all of the uncertainty surrounding schools in September, and the very hard choices that are before parents, we wanted to reach out and see if there would be any need (or interest) in a half-day camp at the studio? This would be offered as a resource for parents who may make the decision to not send their children back to school in the Fall, but who may still require some time to work from home, go into work for a peri...od of time, or who would just like their children to have a social outlet with a smaller group of children. Please know that we support all families in this challenging decision, whatever that choice may be! We would truly appreciate a moment of your time, and ask if you could please fill out the survey below with your honest answers. The survey is 100% anonymous (we do not see who submitted the completed survey, and do not receive any email addresses), and this will help us with our decision on day camps moving forward. The possibility of us running a day camp would be in order to help support our families, and our community, in this unprecedented time, and please note that all requirements and guidelines for camps set by the Ontario Government would be diligently followed.
