Jill Barton sent out an update now with regards to out upcoming AGM. Please reach out to Danielle Donald or Josh if you are interested in attending. We would LOVE to have a great turn out by our AHAEC members; I am asking each of you to take the time and renew your membership for 2021 and be apart of moving our club forward and celebrating the Arabian horse in Eastern Canada. As Jill shared in the email, watch for a ‘thank you’ bonus for 2020 renewing members who will have horses showing in 2021.

The brand new World Equestrian Center located here in Ocala, Florida held its first evening event open to the public - Sylvia Zerbini’s Grande Liberté performan...ce wowed the crowd this past weekend. A flawless performance filled with magical energy, we were so proud to see Hennessey bred H Abacus H and H Cir Lawrence H be part of Sylvia’s equine lineup shining brightly as Arabian horse ambassadors for the breed. What a wonderful way to inaugurate the World Equestrian Center’s show arenas under the Florida winter sky at the finest equestrian complex in the world. #ocalaproud #grandliberte #sylviazerbini #hennesseybred #hennesseyarabians #hennessey #florida #arabians #arabianhorses See more

Squares...in the horse world we ride a lot of circles. In riding circles we find our horses falling to the inside or outside or falling on their forehand’s, not... maintaining gait etc. Those issues come from lack of balance. Think about riding straight lines and square turns. Start riding with more outside or bridle rein to help balance the horse and use less direct, pulling, gee haw rein. Use your bridle rein to not only push your horse but think about using your bridle rein to rock the weight over the haunches, lightening the front end so you can ride a square turn. When you’re good at long straight lines and turning corners shorten your lines, ride an octagon then when that’s good you ride a circle but it’s a series of short balanced straight lines and corner turns. All coming from the bridle rein and your body. In this world of circles be a straight square.

#ThankfulForTheArabianHorse Member Mimi Gaffey shares why she is thankful for the Arabian horse. My first Arabian came into my life at a very difficult time. I... had just lost my father and my oldest daughter gifted me with an Arabian. Noel had been around the block once or twice. But she was just what I needed to get back to horses and riding after a 20 year gap moving around the world with my Navy husband and raising my family. That started the ball rolling. Today, my heart horse is Berengaria MR ++. She entered my life after my second knee replacement surgery 16 years ago. We grew up together in the Arabian Show World where with the help of my wonderful trainer Darlene Hopkins she won her Legion of Honor and Legion of Merit. Beri has always been there for me. She has let me cry into her mane and stood quietly until I could compose myself. She has let me be her playmate and when she is in her pen she loves to rub on me. She has become so much a part of our family that even my husband likes to brush her and take care of her, and he is definitely not a horse person. Beri keeps me grounded and now that both my husband and I are in our 80’s she is a wonderful baby sitter, which means that I can still ride her. For all her playfulness and spark, when the saddle goes on or when she gets hooked up to the carriage she becomes very quiet and sedate. I never feel anxious when I am on her or driving her and she enjoys out trail rides and trips around the arena with the carriage. I can only hope that I am the first one to go as I am not quite sure what life would be like with her gone. To share your #ThankfulForTheArabianHorse story, email [email protected].

Hi All - Looking to know who would like me posted on the AHA website and receive your official status as a DISCOVERY FARM. This is a program we are revamping, takes 2 minutes to fill the form out and it is my hope that Ontario, Quebec and Eastern Canada are well represented on the AHA website and for AHAEC. Please comment below if you are interested and I will send you the form. Thank you to Allan and Janet who are leading the way with submissions for this. This is a nice program to say HEY WE HAVE GREAT ARABIAN HORSES, WHY WE LOVE THE ARABIAN HORSE and continues to give them the exposure that we want!! When completed, AHA will ship you a nice new banner that you can proudly display. Looking to hear from many of you -- Josh

I am a lesson horse. I am a horse that isn’t as recognized as the top hunter jumpers, the best western pleasure horse, or the 1D barrel horse, I am a lesson ho...rse. I am the backbone of the foundation to do all of those things. I am a lesson horse. I am not loved by one person. I am loved by several people. I don’t have my person, I have my people. I am a lesson horse. I will teach your child and yourself more than just to ride. I will bring your child out of their shell. I will teach your child about life. I will be yours and their shoulder to cry on. I am a lesson horse. I will bring my family the joy of teaching kids. I will bring my families business growth. I am so loved by my family, even if they don’t express it everyday. My family allows others to show me love and enjoy me. I am a lesson horse. At the end of your childs’ journey on a lesson horse, they will out grow me. They will find one that jumps higher, a horse that is show quality, a horse much faster than me. But, I will never outgrow being a lesson horse. I will be the one that loved your child and helped your child grow into the rider and person they are. I am a lesson horse. At the end of my time as a lesson horse; I will be covered in grey hair. Each grey hair came from each hour I spent as a lesson horse. I will be in a field of green grass, I will be taken care of as I was when I was a lesson horse. I will watch your child from across the pasture love her new horse. But, I will love your child more than any horse can. I will be the backbone of the business, the family, and your child. Don’t forget about me, I am a lesson horse. I am a lesson horse. *stolen from a friend *
